What You Can Expect
The Quality Engineering Technician acts as a frontline service provider to manufacturing and engineering teams, actively supporting internal customers on day to day basis for CMM downtime response and recovery. This team member serves as the onsite SME for CMM hardware and repair. Supports preventive maintenance activities. May be tasked with calibration execution to support CMM fleet readiness. Communicates clear status updates, ETAs, and next steps during downtime events, ensuring customers and leadership have awareness of any risks or roadblocks. Supports training of adjacent Metrology personnel in CMM Downtime recovery. Performs all duties with strict observance of company’s procedures, GMP’s, SOP’s and other internal and external requirements or regulations.
How You'll Create Impact
- Serve as primary responder to CMM downtime calls via designated support channel.
- Execute hands-on troubleshooting and repair of CMM systems.
- Document all downtime events, actions taken, and resolution details in tracking system.
- Drive reduction in repeat failures through root cause analysis and corrections.
- Coordinate with vendors for escalations, parts, and service support. Track part orders, lead times, and installation schedules.
- Monitor fleet performance and identify systemic issues or high-risk assets.
- Maintain awareness of common failure components.
- Recommend and implement improvements to uptime, reliability, and response time.
- Support initiatives such as fleet readiness reviews, storm recovery checks, and upgrades.
- Support cross-functional teams during new equipment installs and qualifications.
- Perform and support scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) on CMM equipment.
- May execute calibration routines and verify machine performance against standards.
- Partner with CMM programmers and engineers to resolve various issues related to CMMs.
- Assists with revising Operational Procedures and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
- Training delivery to other team members that will perform tasks related to the same area.
- Ensure all work meets regulatory and quality system requirements
- Follow proper documentation practices for audit readiness.

What Makes You Stand Out
- Proficient technical writing abilities.
- Broad knowledge of good documentation practices and good manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints and drawings.
- Knowledgeable in the area of Geometric, Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Excellent communication, organization and problem solving skills.
- Able to work with minimum supervision and under pressure.
- Takes initiative and makes good judgment in the performance of duties.
- Computer literate: Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Knowledge in FDA & ISO regulations are a plus.
Your Background
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with specialized training and/or certification and 4 years of relevant experience required.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- ASQ Quality Technician Certification is highly desirable.
Travel Expectations
- A valid driver's license is required for local travel across Zimmer Biomet facilities in Warsaw, Indiana.
