Job Title: Quality Engineer

Job Description

The Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that precision-machined products consistently meet stringent customer and regulatory requirements. This position focuses on root cause analysis, process qualification, and continuous improvement within a machining manufacturing environment with tight tolerances. The role combines hands-on inspection, data-driven problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen the Quality Management System and drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate core competencies including being action oriented, acting as a change champion, maintaining a strong customer focus, actively developing self and others, and taking ownership of outcomes.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analyses for non-conformances and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (RCCA).
  • Lead or support part and process qualifications to ensure new and existing products meet quality and performance requirements.
  • Analyze production and quality data, including SPC data, to reduce non-conformances, identify trends, and streamline processes.
  • Develop, review, and approve inspection plans and perform inspections as needed to verify product conformance.
  • Monitor inspection methods and calibration activities to ensure compliance with internal standards and metrological requirements.
  • Review customer and supplier inspection and test plans for feasibility and alignment with internal capabilities and standards.
  • Generate, maintain, and improve quality procedures, specifications, and documentation in support of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Track and report quality metrics and manage Quality Notifications (QNs) through investigation, corrective action, and closure.
  • Support internal and external quality audits, surveillance activities, and quality-related training initiatives.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in quality processes, tools, and methods across the organization.
  • Maintain document control and archival systems to ensure accurate, accessible, and compliant quality records.
  • Ensure adherence to metrological standards and inspection protocols in all measurement and testing activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to meet company and customer goals.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, when sharing quality findings, reports, and recommendations.
  • Uphold confidentiality, honesty, and integrity in all professional activities and decision-making.
  • Participate actively in safety programs, follow established safety procedures, and promptly report unsafe conditions or behaviors.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a Quality Engineer or in a similar quality-focused role within a machining environment.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a machining environment with tight tolerances.
  • Strong hands-on experience with root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions (RCCA).
  • Proficiency with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis to monitor and improve process capability and product quality.
  • Practical knowledge of quality engineering tools such as 8D problem-solving methodology.
  • Experience with metrology, including measurement techniques, inspection equipment, and calibration practices.
  • Ability to develop, review, and implement inspection plans and quality procedures.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for resolving complex quality issues.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for reports, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to champion change, support continuous improvement, and work in a customer-focused manner.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred.
  • Experience working with a formal Quality Management System (QMS) and related documentation.
  • Familiarity with quality metrics, quality notifications, and audit support activities.
  • Ability to foster cross-functional teamwork and build strong working relationships across departments.
  • Commitment to professional integrity, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
  • Interest in long-term contract opportunities and contributing to a stable, high-performance quality organization.

Work Environment

This role is based in a machining manufacturing environment that focuses on precision components with tight tolerances. The Quality Engineer works closely with production, engineering, and other support teams on the shop floor and in office settings to perform inspections, analyze data, and support process qualifications. The environment involves regular interaction with machining processes, inspection equipment, and metrology tools. The position offers a stable, long-term contract opportunity with a well-established operation that values continuous improvement, safety, and collaboration. Standard manufacturing safety practices apply, and appropriate attire and protective equipment are used as required by shop floor conditions.

This is a Contract position based out of Pooler, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.27/hr.
