Quality Engineer


Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer to support manufacturing operations at its TN facility. This role ensures that products meet customer specifications, internal standards, and regulatory requirements through robust quality systems, data‑driven problem solving, and hands‑on collaboration with production teams. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and brings strong analytical, communication, and continuous‑improvement skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve the facility’s Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with ISO standards and customer requirements.
  • Develop, update, and control quality documentation including control plans, PFMEAs, work instructions, and inspection standards.
  • Lead internal audits and support external/customer audits.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) using structured problem‑solving tools (5 Why, Fishbone, DMAIC).
  • Support new product launches through PPAP, APQP, and validation activities.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure capability, stability, and adherence to specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations to resolve quality issues and drive process improvements.
  • Serve as a primary technical contact for customer quality concerns, ensuring timely communication and resolution.
  • Work with suppliers on incoming material quality, including SCARs, supplier audits, and material qualification.
  • Prepare and deliver quality reports, metrics, and performance summaries to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze scrap, rework, and process data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead or participate in Lean/CI initiatives to reduce defects, improve yield, and enhance overall product quality.
  • Support measurement system analysis (MSA), gage R&R, and calibration activities.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science strongly preferred (associate degree with experience acceptable).
  • Quality or manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Minitab or equivalent statistical software.
  • Experience with CAD, PC-DMIS, Plex, and metrology equipment is a plus.
  • Proficiency in CAD and engineering documentation standards.
  • Understanding of cost estimating and quoting in a contract manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with APQP, FMEA, and PPAP frameworks.
  • Expertise in mechanical product design and manufacturing principles.
  • Working knowledge of tooling design for powdered metal or similar manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks on multiple projects with multiple people is a must
