Job Title: Incoming Quality Control Inspector / Quality Control Technician

Job Description

The Incoming Quality Control Inspector ensures that all incoming electrical and mechanical components meet manufacturing and production standards through precise dimensional and visual inspection. This role supports overall quality compliance, inspection reporting, and corrective action activities to maintain consistent product quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection of incoming materials in accordance with manufacturing specifications using mechanical inspection methods, tools, and equipment.
  • Conduct detailed dimensional and visual inspections on electrical and mechanical components to verify conformance to requirements.
  • Interpret and review engineering drawings and specifications to understand inspection criteria and acceptance standards.
  • Recommend improvements to drawings and specifications to enhance manufacturability, reduce cost, and improve safety.
  • Record, track, and report inspection results accurately and in a timely manner using established documentation and reporting tools.
  • Support and participate in corrective actions related to inspection findings by providing detailed inspection data and feedback.
  • Maintain inspection tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly calibrated.
  • Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities by providing inspection input and assisting in disposition of nonconforming materials.
  • Apply principles of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) during inspection to assess compliance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality, engineering, and production, to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience performing inspection of incoming materials using mechanical inspection methods, tools, and equipment.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers for dimensional inspection.
  • Experience conducting quality inspection and visual inspection of electrical and mechanical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications for inspection purposes.
  • Working knowledge of quality control and quality assurance practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, IPC-610, or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in measurements and documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to document findings and collaborate with teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using PC-DMIS or similar coordinate measuring machine (CMM) software is an asset.
  • Experience supporting Material Review Board (MRB) activities is beneficial.
  • Prior involvement in corrective action processes and root cause analysis is advantageous.
  • General understanding of manufacturing processes for electrical and mechanical components.
  • Ability to suggest design and specification improvements for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and safety.

Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing and production environment focused on the inspection of incoming electrical and mechanical components. The position involves hands-on work at inspection stations, interaction with quality, engineering, and production teams, and adherence to documented quality procedures and standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and IPC-610. Work hours typically follow standard manufacturing schedules, with an emphasis on accuracy, organization, and maintaining calibrated inspection equipment in a clean and orderly workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Salem, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
