We are seeking a senior-level Data QA Engineer III to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and trustworthiness of enterprise data solutions. This role focuses on validating data pipelines, transformations, semantic models, and BI/reporting outputs—not UI test automation. You will design automated data tests, implement monitoring and alerting, and partner closely with Data Engineering and BI teams to support confident, data-driven decision making.


This person must have strong automated testing experience specifically with back-end data pipelines. Not interested in Front-end or UI testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate data requirements into testable quality criteria in an Agile environment.
  • Design and maintain automated tests for ETL/ELT pipelines, transformations, and analytics outputs.
  • Write and optimize SQL-based data validations (counts, reconciliation, integrity, business rules).
  • Build and maintain regression test suites and deterministic test datasets.
  • Investigate and reproduce data quality issues; perform lineage analysis and root cause identification.
  • Implement data observability checks for freshness, volume, anomalies, and schema drift.
  • Integrate test automation with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
  • Track QA metrics and continuously improve data quality frameworks and processes.
  • Collaborate with engineers and BI partners; document standards and best practices.
  • Mentor team members and lead high-impact data quality initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Senior-level experience in data or backend QA (non-UI).
  • Expert SQL skills; strong experience with Python, JavaScript, or C#.
  • Experience with data testing tools (e.g., Great Expectations, Cypress).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile practices.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience with data observability and monitoring solutions.

Salary Range: $100-125k
