As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk.
Generally, this role will conduct reviews of bank customers (individuals/entities), related parties (owners, board of directors, executives) and/or transactions that present a moderate degree of complexity and risk to determine appropriateness for Wells Fargo. Responsibilities may include: conduct comprehensive research and/or background investigations on transactions, individuals, entities, organizations or locations to identify and mitigate associated sanctions, credit, financial crime, and reputational risks and thoroughly document findings. Review and analyze due diligence data from a variety of sources to determine overall risk. Screen customers, prospects and/or transactions against various regulatory reporting lists and regionally based sanctions watch lists. Evaluate risks to determine permissibility under sanctions regulations and/or BSA/AML regulations. Work with high risk customers (e.g. casinos, MSBs, payment processors) to understand controls and activities. Provide appropriate direction to the line of business. Escalate confirmed sanctions alerts, PEP matches and other risks appropriately. Perform non-documentary Customer Identification Program on domestic customers in accordance with regulations and bank policy. Ensure compliance with guidelines set forth in federal/state anti-money laundering laws and regulations including the Bank Secrecy Act and various sanctions regulations; and in accordance with policy/procedures set by the bank. Consult with peers, line of business managers and other external parties regarding due diligence findings. Participate in moderate size project initiatives. Operate independently with minimal supervision, and effectively manage work requests to meet performance expectations.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
  • Evaluate output from the Customer Due Diligence Group which includes Credit Investigations, Global Sanctions Screening & Reporting, and Enhanced Due Diligence Center.
  • Effectively manage a personal work queue and consistently deliver error free quality control reviews within SLA.  
  • Use approved policies and procedures in order to complete reviews that are clear, concise, and easily understood by due diligence consultants and leaders.  
  • Examine and analyze programs, processes, and/or files of unusual, complex and/or higher risk transactions to ensure compliance with internal company requirements and/or agency or government regulations.
  • Clearly communicate overall process or transaction quality and provide feedback to key stakeholders regarding identified material deficiencies or issues including identification of inconsistencies.  
  • Analyze risks and offset and develop solutions for problems identified.  
IMPORTANT NOTE: 
Please Note: The selected candidate must be located in one of the listed locations. Position is currently remote; however, they will be required to work on site when Wells Fargo returns to standard operating model.
This role is not open to telecommute. Candidate must reside within a reasonable commute to one of the addresses listed in the posting.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: quality assurance, financial services administration, loan documentation, loan servicing, underwriting or risk evaluation demonstrated through work or military experience
  • 4+ years of risk and regulatory compliance experience
  • 3+ years of BSA/AML experience
  • 3+ years of experience with BSA/AML/OFAC laws and regulations
  • 3+ years of experience working with laws, rules and regulations within regulatory guidelines or policies
  • 2+ years of fraud investigations experience

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience with sanctions scanning software such as Bridger Insight XG
  • Corporate Due Diligence Investigations processes to identify reputational risk in reviewing court documents including but not limited to civil, criminal, liens and judgements, etc
  • Enhanced Due Diligence processes to review and confirm customer Money Service Business, Third Party Payment and Casino/Gaming activity 
  • Global Sanctions Screening & Reporting processes
  • Experience using the following systems: Lexis Nexis, Hogan, SVP, WCIS, Universal Workstation, CAAP, GSMOS, GSMOS BTL, Prevent, Siebel, ISS, FCP, OIB, Newton, BRRTS




Salary Information

The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.

NC-Charlotte: Min: $47,500 Mid: $66,000 Max: $84,500
