Quality Assurance Technician

Job Description

As a QA Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our products through meticulous testing and examination processes. You will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards in our production and packaging operations.

Responsibilities

  • Weigh finished products at specified intervals and record deviations from standard, informing the Production Supervisor for necessary adjustments.
  • Examine packaging labels to ensure the correct labels are used, including checking UPC, allergen statements, and code dates.
  • Inspect the quality of package fabrication for pouches, cartons, and shipping containers.
  • Verify code dates on all packaging to ensure accuracy.
  • Apply knowledge of hold/release procedures for nonconforming products or packaging.
  • Utilize SQF standards, HACCP, and food safety initiatives in daily tasks.
  • Perform hourly metal detector checks to identify potential foreign materials in products.
  • Conduct Critical Quality Point (CQP) checks and sensory evaluations of ingredients and finished products for quality.
  • Implement Allergen Control and conduct necessary swab verifications.
  • Conduct chemical analyses and tests on ingredients and finished goods.
  • Record and verify QA documentation and controls.
  • Perform microbiological sampling, plating, and results interpretation for ingredients, raw materials, finished goods, and environmental monitoring.
  • Verify production processes and perform raw material ingredients sampling as per QA procedures.
  • Receive ingredient tankers and analyze samples such as viscosity and Brix.
  • Maintain knowledge of Good Lab Practices and manage lab supplies inventory.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with 1+ year of experience in a quality function or a BS in a scientific concentration, preferably in food quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Office, etc.).
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Comfortable working in an environment handling allergenic materials (Milk, Soy, Eggs, Wheat, Peanut, and Tree Nuts).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
