We are looking for a Purchasing and Planning Specialist to oversee procurement processes and ensure seamless material availability for production operations. Based in Mason, Ohio, this role requires a candidate with a strong background in purchasing, inventory management, and supplier relations. You will play a critical role in optimizing costs, maintaining inventory accuracy, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet production goals.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the procurement of materials and components, ensuring timely delivery to support production schedules.
• Take full ownership of inventory management, including cycle counting, audits, and maintaining accurate records.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to create and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support production planning.
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms, build strong relationships, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve inventory control and procurement processes.
• Coordinate with internal teams to align material supply with production demand and project timelines.
• Monitor supplier performance to ensure consistent quality and reliability.
• Provide support for production scheduling by ensuring material availability and addressing potential shortages.
• Conduct regular analysis of purchasing activities to identify areas for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards in all purchasing and planning activities.
Required Experience:
Proven experience in purchasing, inventory, planning, and supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Familiarity with ERP systems (QuickBooks or other systems) and inventory control processes.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting and work collaboratively across teams.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Kanban systems is a plus.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing, planning, or inventory management, preferably in precision equipment or related manufacturing sectors.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems.
Strong problem-solving skills, proactive approach to process improvement, and willingness to take ownership on projects/initiatives and drive for results across teams.
