Corporate & Investment Banking delivers a comprehensive suite of capital markets, banking, and financial products and services. A trusted partner to our clients, we provide corporate and transactional banking; commercial real estate lending and servicing; investment banking; equity; and fixed income solutions including sales, trading, and research capabilities to corporate, commercial real estate, government, and institutional clients across the globe.

Wells Fargo Credit Sales & Trading is seeking an Associate level Credit Strategist. The Credit Strategist will be expected to produce thematic research across all Credit products including investment grade, high yield and leveraged loans under the leadership of the Head of Credit Strategy.

Candidates should demonstrate a baseline understanding of credit markets, a demonstrated drive for learning about the credit markets, and display an ability to collaborate with business partners across groups.  The Credit Strategist will work with each respective Credit Desk- High Grade and Leveraged Finance to align Credit Strategy with Wells Fargo’s strategic priorities, including client prioritization across different market segments, determining the scope of market coverage and facilitating communication with business partners in sales, trading and syndicate. All aspects will be under the guidance and leadership of the Head of Credit Strategy.  Potential candidates will work directly with support partners, such as Compliance, to ensure they are within the policies and regulations that govern research strategist conduct.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.



Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: capital markets, investment banking or industry-specific sector; or a PhD in quantitative field such as mathematics, physics, or engineering obtained by date of hire; or MBA; or 6+ years of former military experience


Desired Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • A Master's degree or higher
  • A Masters of Business Administration (MBA)
  • An active Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation


Other Desired Qualifications

• 1 + years as a publishing strategist, market segment analyst and/or industry experience within a specific market segment.
• Energetic, detail-oriented self-starter with excellent communication and management skills.
• A team-oriented mindset as the credit strategist will work in close partnership with the various business teams and relevant support partners
Experience with credit strategy  and research 



Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Registration for FINRA Series 63 (or 66) must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.
  • Registration for FINRA Series 79 must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.
  • Registration for Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted
