New Castle County’s Department of Public Works is hiring temporary seasonal employees for its Property Maintenance Section. These positions offer up to 37.5 hours per week and are limited to a maximum of six (6) months per calendar year. Applicants must be at least 16 years old, and some roles may require a valid driver’s license. Candidates who are selected must successfully complete a background check and physical before beginning employment.
PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER
Park Maintenance positions are responsible for assisting maintenance staff with all aspects of maintaining park grounds and facilities. The essential duties of the position are core functions common to all levels of the position and are not intended to be an exhaustive list.
PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I- Full-Time Positions
(PWW I, $15.00-$18.23/hr.)
This is entry-level work with no experience required; however, individuals must meet minimum age qualifications to secure a work permit.
PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER II- Full Time Positions
(PWW II, $15.75-$19.14/hr.)
Applicants must have at least one (1) years' experience in work related to the duties performed and possession of a high school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of experience, education or training directly related to the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER III– Full Time Positions
(PWW III, $16.54-$20.10/hr.)
Applicants must have at least three (3) years' experience in work related to the duties to be performed (experience must have been at the supervisory level if the duties of the position require supervision) and possession of a high school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of experience, education or training directly related to the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
