SUMMARY: Temporary/Seasonal Parks Laborer performs a wide variety of semi-skilled work in the operation of equipment, machinery, and tools used in the maintenance of the parks and rails-to-trails systems.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs all maintenance tasks which may include irrigation and irrigation maintenance, mower operation, servicing and repair, playground maintenance and repair, picnic area and facilities repair, restroom maintenance and repair, system maintenance, vegetation maintenance, use of paints, herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers and job related chemicals, sod removal, and any other maintenance tasks required.
Performs a wide variety of maintenance activities involving the use of tools such as shovels, rakes, jackhammers, pumps, mowers, sprinklers, and hand cutting tools.
Ability to help direct, give information or be of service to the public.
Specific seasonals may be required to act as crew leaders to help provide additional supervision where needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Exercises supervision over personnel as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or be currently enrolled in a high school curriculum.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION: Must possess a valid Wyoming driver's license of the required status; ability to be insured under the City's municipal automobile insurance policy coverage; must be at least 18 years of age.OTHER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: General knowledge of park maintenance practices. Some experience or aptitude for park equipment operation. Ability to work alone, to learn job tasks competently, and supervise others.
