Position Overview
This position will work for the Illinois OSHA Enforcement Division to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health standards and assist with Illinois OSHA’s mission to protect the health and safety of public employees through the inspection, investigation, and evaluation of public facilities. Please understand, IL OSHA enforcement inspections are detailed and require significant documentation. After the on-site inspection, an inspector will spend several hours writing a narrative and developing a case file to support recommended violations. The inspection process typically takes several days to a few weeks and is usually much more intensive than inspections conducted in other occupations.
Essential FunctionsA) Successful completion of the State of Illinois Public Safety Inspector Trainee program;
OR
B) One year of scientific, technical, or other work experience that demonstrates understanding of occupational safety and health principles and practices and successful completion of the applicable OSHA sanctioned training course(s) prior to expiration of probationary period of employment.
Related work experience in the areas of work safety inspection and consultation, promotion or training may be accepted as meeting the requirements of this class on a year-for-year basis.
