An employee in this class will lead and manage our Tuberculosis (TB), Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD), Communicable Disease (CD), and Immunization clinics. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care, developing patient care plans, and ensuring compliance with public health protocols.

STD CLINIC

  1. Coordinates STD Clinic under the direct supervision of the Communicable Disease Supervisor.
  2. Obtains health history and range of symptoms for current problems.
  3. Performs Blood Pressure, Temperature checks as per clinic policy and procedure.
COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
  1. Responsible for follow-up of Shigellosis, Salmonella, E. Coli and Campylobacter, vectorborne diseases.
  2. Patient/parent teaching, telephone management, letter, or home visit.
  3. Responsible for completion of Communicable Disease Report and/or surveillance report as required by the state, and entering information into the NCEDSS (North Carolina Electronic Disease Surveillance System.
TUBERCULOSIS
  1. Serves as Lead TB nurse.
  2. Assess patients with positive PPD’s, and evaluating for treatment of LTBI (Latent Tuberculosis Infection) per standing orders.
  3. Schedule chest x-rays through Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and two years of Public Health nursing experience; or a Master’s in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience including two years of Public Health nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications- A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the N. C. Board of Nursing; Valid Driver's License
