Under general supervision, plans, coordinates, and provides professional public health nursing services to individuals,
families, and groups in the home, community, and health centers.
- Provides nursing care, health assessments, health guidance, health education, and referral services to individuals,
families, groups, and institutions. - Administers prescribed medical treatments and emergency care to patients.
- Assists physicians and others in health clinics.
- Provide Family Planning Services and child immunizations based on current federal, state, and local regulations.
- Performs various health screenings.
- Provides health screening education and counseling in the areas of disease prevention, health maintenance, and
mental health. - Participates in the instruction, orientation, and oversight of new public health nurses, nursing assistants, volunteers,
and others. - Prepares and maintains nursing records and reports.
- Provides education and develops initiatives to promote recommended vaccinations for older children and adults.
- Collaborates with various internal and external sectors throughout Baltimore County to ensure that all Baltimore County
children receive access to age-appropriate immunizations and meet the state immunization requirements for school
enrollment to prevent the spread of preventable diseases within their communities. - Oversees the assembly of and participates in various outreach and immunization clinic events to promote vaccine awareness
and provision of vaccinations. - The IAP nurse supervises and tracks children who are not fully immunized, ensuring the availability to receive the required
vaccinations and that their records are appropriately updated.

Required QualificationsGraduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing.
OR Graduation from an accredited diploma school of nursing, plus at least one year of professional nursing experience.
(Additional qualifying education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.)
ORGraduation from an accredited college or university with an associate in arts degree in nursing, plus at least two years'
professional nursing experience. (Additional qualifying education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the
required experience.)
Licensesand
CertificatesPossession of a valid license to practice as a professional registered nurse, issued by the Maryland State Board of
Examiners of Nurses, is required at the time of appointment. Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a
noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
Proof of Licenses, Certifications and EducationApplicants are required to submit proof of education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications
of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are
