The City of Santa Clarita is recruiting for a part-time, temporary, seasonal (PTS) Equipment Porter in the Parks division of the Neighborhood Services department. Under supervision, this position will perform maintenance on a variety of small power equipment for the City’s Parks division.This position is expected to work 4 to 5 days a week from 6:30 – 11:30 a.m.Maintenance Worker I: $19.02Maintenance Worker II: $22.28
Duties and Responsibilities•Maintains a weekly schedule for safety inspecting/cleaning of small power equipment•Works with Parks staff to pick up and deliver vehicles according to the preventative maintenance or repair schedule•Picks up and delivers parts and supplies from/to local vendors•Conducts minor equipment repairs on items including, but not limited to, spark plugs, air filters, belts, carburetors, weed whips, and blowers•Prepares and maintains equipment for use and checks it in/out for staff•Stocks gas cans for all park locations; may deliver them to parks as needed•Maintains shop cleanliness•Performs related duties as needed•High school diploma or GED equivalent•Minimum 6 months of experience servicing small equipment or other related experience in the maintenance field•Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license and safe driving record are required•Experience working with reel mowers is highly desirable•Knowledge of basic operations and maintenance of small power equipment and components•Ability to use basic shop hand and power tools such as ratchets, sockets, hand wrenches, screw drivers, pneumatic power tools, and grease guns•Ability to drive a variety of equipment and Class C vehicles•Ability to keep basic maintenance records•Ability to work in various weather conditions, including inclement weather•Strong team player with the ability to work both independently and as part of a work group•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and outside agencies•Strong work ethic, proactive, and the ability to learn quickly •Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate professionally and tactfully with City employees and members of the public•Ability to work in a safe and productive manner•This position requires physical labor, including the ability to bend, squat, lift, carry, and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing 50 pounds or moreAPPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED: This position will remain open until filled, with a first review date of Monday, March 30, 2026.
