Job Title: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner 

Department: Medical Clinic

Labor Grade/Salary Range: 16 / $105,000.00 - $150,000.00 Based on Experience 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provides medication and psychiatric evaluations to clients in accordance with acceptable  practice guidelines and licensure scope of practice under a collaborative agreement with  a psychiatrist. 
  • Orders appropriate psychotropic medications for clients when clinically indicated. Sees clients as scheduled during med clinics. 
  • Reviews and confirms clinical diagnoses and signs individual service plans. Authorizes clinical services appropriate to the client’s clinical diagnosis. 
  • Maintains case record documentation that is adequate, appropriate, complete, and  timely. 
  • Attends to and participates appropriately in clinical staffing. 
  • Responds to client’s needs in an appropriate and timely manner. 
  • Demonstrates appropriate interactions with coworkers that promote a pleasant work  environment. 
  • Completes additional job duties assigned by supervisor. 
  • Maintains professional certification and/or licensure and appropriate clinical training  opportunities. 
  • Participates in interagency collaboration for the provision of client services. 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of current APRN license, PMHNP-BC certification, licensed to practice in  Mississippi, and current DEA license or ability to obtain throughout employment. Malpractice insurance must be maintained throughout employment. 
  • Valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance per agency policy.  

Completion of annual training in and working knowledge of compliance with DMH  standards. 

  • Previous experience in an outpatient mental health setting strongly preferred.
