Medical Director – Adult Psychiatry

Location: Washington State (Hybrid possible)

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Compensation: $283,200 – $346,400 (DOE)

Overview

Seeking a Medical Director of Adult Psychiatry to provide strategic and operational leadership within a community-based behavioral health setting serving approximately 2,000 patients, including immigrant and refugee populations.

This is a 90% administrative and 10% clinical role, designed for a physician interested in leadership, program development, and system-level impact.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

  • Provide oversight of adult psychiatric services
  • Manage and supervise a team of approximately 10 providers (psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, resident)
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, and staffing capacity
  • Direct day-to-day clinical operations
  • Lead medical staff meetings and participate in external leadership forums
  • Collaborate with pharmacy and primary care teams

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, compliant care
  • Lead quality assurance and risk management initiatives
  • Develop and implement clinical policies and protocols
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards

Strategic & Program Development

  • Lead transition to Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) status
  • Develop and implement a Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program
  • Support expansion into Child and Adolescent psychiatry services
  • Guide overall behavioral health strategy

Clinical Responsibilities (10%)

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations
  • Provide medication management
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications
  • Participate in multidisciplinary care teams

Qualifications

Required

  • MD or DO from an accredited institution
  • Active Washington State medical license and DEA license
  • Minimum 5 years of experience treating mental illness
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience in a clinical setting

Preferred

  • Experience in community behavioral health
  • Experience working with immigrant and refugee populations

Desired Skills

  • Strong leadership and administrative capabilities

  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop clinical staff
  • Experience with EHR systems (EPIC preferred)
