Community Manager

Salary: $70,000 - $85,000

Location: Norwalk, CT


We’re seeking an experienced and driven Community Manager to lead operations at a thriving residential community in Norwalk, CT. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who excels at building strong teams, driving financial performance, and delivering an exceptional resident experience.


As the Community Manager, you’ll take full ownership of day-to-day operations, from team leadership and leasing strategy to financial management and resident satisfaction. You’ll be the face of the community—setting the standard for service, performance, and culture.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing onsite team through a supportive and accountable management style
  • Oversee hiring, training, performance management, and employee development
  • Partner closely with maintenance leadership to ensure timely unit turns, preventative maintenance, and capital project execution
  • Drive occupancy, revenue growth, and overall asset performance through strategic leasing and marketing initiatives
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including occupancy, retention, and service metrics
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors and ensure quality service delivery


Financial Management

  • Develop and manage annual operating budgets
  • Monitor expenses, optimize costs, and ensure financial targets are achieved
  • Oversee rent collection, financial reporting, and timely bank deposits
  • Analyze market trends and provide rental rate recommendations
  • Ensure invoices are processed accurately and promptly


Leasing & Resident Experience

  • Oversee leasing operations, including applicant screening and approvals
  • Ensure model units and common areas are maintained to the highest standards
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience for both prospective and current residents
  • Handle resident relations, conflict resolution, and retention strategies
  • Conduct regular property inspections to maintain curb appeal and overall community standards


Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with Fair Housing regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies
  • Report and document incidents appropriately
  • Promote a safety-first culture across the community


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of property management experience, including at least 1 year in a Community Manager role
  • Strong knowledge of Fair Housing regulations and property management best practices
  • Familiarity with affordable housing programs is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Yardi or similar property management software preferred
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk the property regularly, including climbing stairs
  • Capable of bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs), and standing for extended periods
