Project Manager — Trades Portfolio
Company: NLP Holdings
Reports to: Chris Lee, Head of Trades
Location: On-site
Employment Type: Full-time
About NLP Holdings
NLP Holdings is a privately held investment and operating company that acquires, builds, and scales high-performing service businesses across the trades (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Roofing, etc.) and in the healthcare sector. Our portfolio is organized into focused verticals — Roofing (led by Zac Carter) Trades (led by Chris Lee) and Healthcare (led by Bryce Kelly). We invest in operational excellence, strong leadership, and disciplined growth, and we expect the same standard from every member of our team.
About the Role
The Project Manager — Trades Portfolio is a high-impact, hands-on operator who will work directly with Chris Lee, Head of Trades, to drive execution across the portfolio’s operating companies. This role is the connective tissue between leadership strategy and on-the-ground results: turning priorities into plans, plans into action, and action into measurable outcomes across multiple businesses and locations.
This is not a back-office coordinator role. The PM will be expected to roll up their sleeves, travel to portfolio company sites as needed, hold operators accountable to commitments, and own outcomes end-to-end.
What You’ll Do
- Partner directly with Chris Lee to plan, prioritize, and execute initiatives across the Trades portfolio
- Lead cross-company projects spanning operations, integrations, systems rollouts, hiring, and performance improvement
- Build and maintain project plans, timelines, KPIs, and dashboards that give leadership real-time visibility into portfolio health
- Run weekly operating cadences with portfolio company leaders — driving accountability, removing blockers, and escalating issues with proposed solutions
- Support post-acquisition integration of newly acquired trades businesses (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and adjacent verticals)
- Standardize playbooks and best practices across portfolio companies, drawing on what’s working in the Roofing portfolio and other operating companies
- Translate financial and operational data into clear narratives for Chris and the broader leadership team
- Travel as needed to portfolio company locations to assess operations, build relationships, and ensure execution
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of progressive experience in project management, operations, consulting, private equity portfolio operations, or a similar high-ownership role
- Demonstrated success managing multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities and deadlines
- Strong financial and analytical fluency — comfort reading P&Ls, building models, and translating data into action
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to talk to a field tech in the morning and a CEO in the afternoon
- Proficiency with project management and reporting tools (Asana, Monday, ClickUp, Excel, Google Workspace, etc.)
- Bias for action, ownership mindset, and willingness to do whatever the work requires
- Comfort with ambiguity, change, and rapid pace typical of a growing holding company
- Experience in the trades, home services, construction, or multi-location service businesses strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience may substitute
- Understanding and utilization of Ai and similar tools (Claude, Gemini, etc) is a PLUS
Why Join NLP Holdings
- Direct exposure to executive decision-making and portfolio strategy alongside the Head of Trades
- Visible, high-impact work across multiple operating companies — not a siloed corporate seat
- Clear path for growth as the portfolio expands through acquisitions and organic growth
- Competitive base salary, performance bonus, and benefits package
- A team that values execution, accountability, and results over politics
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time, W-2 non-exempt position with built-in compensation flexibility:
- Hourly rate: $25–$35, depending on experience (approximately $52K–$73K annualized at 40 hours per week)
- Overtime eligible and paid at time-and-a-half for hours worked over 40 in a workweek; overtime hours are regularly available
- Annual performance bonus, structured to your preference: candidates who elect a lower base rate are eligible for a higher bonus target, and vice versa
- On-target total compensation in the range of approximately $80K, with overtime and bonus upside on top
