Risk Management Specialist (Contract)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Risk Management Specialist to support a portfolio of large-scale capital projects within the energy and utilities sector. This role is responsible for leading the implementation of a comprehensive risk management framework across multiple projects, ensuring effective identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of project risks.

This position partners closely with project managers and cross-functional stakeholders to drive risk-informed decision-making and enhance overall project execution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of a structured project risk management framework across multiple projects
  • Facilitate risk identification, assessment, response planning, and monitoring/control activities
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously update risk registers
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk analyses, including scenario modeling
  • Support risk-based decision-making by providing insights and recommendations to project teams
  • Establish and manage project risk management plans
  • Monitor risk response effectiveness and escalate critical risks as needed
  • Lead and facilitate risk workshops, contingency planning sessions, and stakeholder meetings
  • Deliver training sessions on risk management processes, tools, and best practices
  • Collaborate with project teams to support constructability reviews and lessons learned sessions
  • Provide subject matter expertise on risk treatment strategies and control measures


Required Qualifications

  • 8–15 years of experience in project risk management, preferably within large capital or infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated experience supporting multiple concurrent projects or project portfolios
  • Hands-on experience with quantitative risk analysis tools such as @RISK, Deltek, or similar
  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and methodologies
  • Experience facilitating risk workshops and stakeholder engagements
  • Proven ability to influence project teams and leadership in risk-based decision-making


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in energy, utilities, or major infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with Monte Carlo simulations and advanced risk modeling techniques
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
