Project Manager

EPC Project Forwarding & Logistics Houston, TX

$90,000 – $115,000 Base + Full Benefits

ABOUT

We are representing a Texas-founded, privately held project freight forwarder and logistics specialist with a network covering 28 countries and a Houston headquarters that has been operational since 1989.

They were built from the ground up servicing the Gulf Coast energy market and have spent over three decades executing the logistics of some of the most complex capital projects in the oil and gas, LNG, petrochemical, and offshore construction sectors. Their client base is made up of major EPC contractors, OEMs, and project owners who bring them in at the procurement stage and keep them through to final delivery. They do not dabble in general forwarding. Every person in this business understands project cargo and the stakes that come with it.

Their project forwarding team in Houston manages multiple concurrent EPC programmes at any one time, covering multi-modal freight movements across international trade lanes from fabrication yards in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East through to construction sites across the Gulf Coast and beyond.

They have a Project Manager vacancy created by growth in their active project portfolio. The incoming person will be assigned to live projects from day one and will have the full support of an experienced team behind them.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take full ownership of assigned EPC project logistics programmes from contract award through to final cargo delivery, acting as the primary point of contact for the client's procurement and logistics teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project logistics plans including shipping schedules, critical path analysis, cargo tracking matrices, and milestone reporting aligned to each project's construction programme.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end movement of project cargo including breakbulk, out-of-gauge, OCTG, hazardous materials, and standard FCL and LCL ocean freight across multiple international trade lanes.
  • Manage carrier, port agent, heavy transport, and customs broker relationships on a project-by-project basis, securing capacity and specialist equipment well in advance of critical shipment windows.
  • Oversee all project shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of origin, letters of credit documentation, AES/EEI filings, and any project-specific compliance requirements.
  • Monitor project freight budgets, track costs against plan, and flag variances to the client and to internal commercial leadership before they become problems.
  • Attend project kick-off meetings, progress reviews, and logistics coordination calls with EPC client teams, OEMs, and fabrication yards, maintaining clear and current communication across all parties.
  • Identify and proactively manage schedule risks, cargo delays, port congestion, and regulatory issues, resolving them before they impact the construction programme.
  • Support the Director of Project Forwarding on tender submissions, project pricing, and scope development for new EPC business opportunities.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A minimum of five years of experience in international project freight forwarding or project logistics, with direct hands-on experience executing cargo movements for EPC, oil and gas, LNG, or petrochemical capital projects.
  • Proven experience managing multi-modal project shipments including breakbulk, OOG, and hazardous cargo across international trade lanes, with a clear understanding of the documentation and compliance requirements that come with each cargo type.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Port of Houston, international carrier and port agent relationships, and the Gulf Coast logistics landscape.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously without losing accuracy, detail, or client confidence.
  • Proficiency in CargoWise or a comparable project logistics platform, alongside strong working knowledge of project scheduling tools and Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with U.S. export control regulations, IMDG requirements, AES/EEI filing, and letter of credit documentation processes.
  • Existing relationships within the Houston EPC contractor and procurement community are a strong advantage.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as active project requirements demand.

WHAT'S ON OFFER

  • Base salary of $90,000 to $115,000 dependent on experience.
  • Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
  • Immediate assignment to live, active EPC projects with a full project support team in place.
  • A business with thirty-five years of Gulf Coast project logistics experience and a reputation that opens doors with the EPC contractors that matter in this market.
  • Monday to Friday schedule based in the Houston office, with project-driven travel as required.
