Infrastructure Project Manager

Optomi, in partnership with an industry leader in the retail space, is searching for an experienced Project Manager focused within the IT infrastructure space. The role involves managing DC hardware refresh projects, including an $8.5 million initiative focused on replacing outdated hardware (tablets, laptops, etc.) across over 2,000 stores and 200 distribution centers. This person will drive projects end-to-end from initiation through handoff to operations, while also supporting store remediations and infrastructure updates. The environment includes a mix of high-volume, lower complexity projects (store updates, wireless/AP installs, IDF/MDF changes) alongside larger initiatives. The role requires heavy coordination with vendors, field teams, and internal infrastructure groups (networking, cybersecurity, servers), ensuring timely delivery, installation, and issue resolution.

The contractor will partner closely with an experienced project manager during onboarding, with the first two weeks spent onsite for training, acclimation to (client name) processes, and team integration. What the responsibilities are of the right candidate:

  • Drive the execution of DC hardware refresh projects from initiation to completion.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely delivery of project components.
  • Oversee project budgets, financials, and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment with business objectives.
  • Utilize tools like Jira and Confluence to manage project documentation and communication.


Job Must Haves:

  • 5 to 7 years of project management experience
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with IT infrastructure projects
  • Ability to manage RAID logs and milestones
  • Vendor management experience (hardware, low-voltage, or field vendors)
  • Familiarity with budgeting and financials (forecasting, POs, tracking spend)
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a high-volume environment
  • Basic understanding of infrastructure concepts (IDF, MDF, networking, hardware lifecycle)
  • Ability to operate independently and escalate appropriately
  • Local to Atlanta, GA
