Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Project Engineer to support the successful execution of a 7-story, 77-unit multifamily development. The Project Engineer plays a critical role in coordinating documentation, managing project controls, supporting field operations, and ensuring communication between the office and jobsite remains seamless. This position is ideal for a construction professional looking to gain hands-on experience managing mid-rise multifamily construction from ground-up through close-out.
Key Responsibilities:
Document Control & Administration
- Manage and track Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Process and log submittals and shop drawings.
- Maintain up-to-date drawing logs and distribute revisions to the field.
- Assist in maintaining project document control within project management software (e.g., Procore).
- Track and organize contracts, insurance certificates, and compliance documents.
Field & Trade Coordination
- Support the Superintendent with coordination of subcontractors.
- Assist in preparing and distributing meeting agendas and minutes.
- Participate in weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
- Help track 3-week look-ahead schedules.
- Perform jobsite walks to verify progress and assist with quality control.
Procurement & Buyout Support
- Assist with subcontractor bid leveling and scope review.
- Track long-lead items and procurement schedules.
- Coordinate material deliveries and confirm compliance with specifications.
- Follow up with vendors to ensure timely submittal approvals.
Financial Support
- Assist the Project Manager with subcontractor billing review.
- Help track change orders and potential change events.
- Support cost tracking and budget updates.
- Maintain logs for owner change orders and subcontractor changes.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Help track inspections and maintain inspection logs.
- Assist in coordinating municipal and third-party inspections.
- Support punch list development and tracking.
- Ensure subcontractors adhere to project specifications and standards.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare and distribute meeting minutes.
- Assist in preparing weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Maintain thorough photo documentation of jobsite progress.
- Communicate clearly with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
- Escalate issues promptly to the Project Manager or Superintendent.
Close-Out & Turnover
- Assist in collecting warranties and close-out documentation.
- Track as-built drawings and O&M manuals.
- Support punch list completion tracking.
- Help prepare final turnover packages for ownership.
Qualifications:
- 1–4 years of experience in construction (internship or full-time).
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
