Project Engineer – Data Center Construction
Data Center TALNT is supporting one of our key hyperscale clients on a mission-critical data center construction project in Aurora, Colorado. We are seeking a Project Engineer to join the on-site construction management team supporting the delivery of AWS data center infrastructure.
This role will work closely with construction managers, general contractors, and cross-functional teams including networking, commissioning, controls, and operations to support the successful delivery of large-scale data center facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting complex construction projects involving mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in mission-critical environments.
The Project Engineer will play a key role in managing documentation workflows, coordinating vendor communication, tracking project changes, and ensuring accurate reporting across the construction team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the on-site construction management team in the delivery of hyperscale data center infrastructure projects
- Coordinate communication between general contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure clear information flow and project alignment
- Track and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change orders, and project documentation
- Maintain project management systems and document control processes to ensure accurate reporting and tracking
- Assist with reviewing Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation for completeness and risk awareness
- Monitor project milestones, schedules, and construction updates
- Coordinate delivery of owner-furnished equipment and materials to project sites
- Support contractor onboarding and site access processes including safety orientation and security credentialing
- Assist with quality control documentation, safety tracking, and project closeout processes
- Maintain centralized tracking systems for construction updates, documentation, and reporting
Day-to-Day
This role is fully on-site (Monday–Friday) at the AWS construction project in Aurora, Colorado. The Project Engineer will work directly with construction managers and contractors on active construction sites, supporting coordination, reporting, and documentation efforts to ensure projects remain on schedule and meet quality standards.
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of construction project engineering, project coordination, or construction management experience
- Experience supporting large-scale construction projects involving mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems
- Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and construction documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent industry experience
- Experience working with project management software and document control systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting data center or mission-critical construction projects
- Familiarity with hyperscale environments such as AWS, Microsoft, Google, or Meta data centers
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience supporting MEP systems including power distribution, cooling infrastructure, and critical facility systems
