Project Director - Mechanical Construction (Piping, Plumbing, HVAC) - North Carolina
Gryphon Oakwood are representing a rapidly growing, nationally recognized mechanical construction firm to identify a Project Director to join its Project Management leadership team in Missouri.
Our client is a full-service mechanical contractor specializing in fabrication, installation, modification, and ongoing service of complex mechanical systems, including:
- Process piping
- Power piping
- Boiler making
- Industrial equipment installation
- Industrial ventilation
- HVAC systems
The Project Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for large-scale mechanical construction projects. This individual will oversee project teams, ensure financial performance, maintain strong client relationships, and drive project execution from preconstruction through completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee complex mechanical construction projects involving HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical piping systems from project initiation through completion.
- Provide leadership and direction to project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Review construction documents and communicate critical information to project teams.
- Monitor project financial performance and ensure projects meet or exceed budget and profitability targets.
- Track and report key performance indicators including schedule adherence, productivity, and cost performance.
- Provide regular project performance updates to executive leadership.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Represent the company in client meetings and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with the Design and Engineering teams to develop effective execution strategies and project plans.
- Lead internal and external project coordination meetings to align stakeholders and maintain project momentum.
- Ensure strict compliance with site safety protocols and quality standards.
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability across all project teams.
Experience
- 8+ years of experience in one of the following roles:
- Senior Mechanical Project Manager
- Mechanical Project Director
- Similar leadership role within mechanical construction
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale mechanical construction projects.
- Strong understanding of: Mechanical piping systems, HVAC systems, Industrial mechanical construction
- Experience managing projects with large mechanical scopes and complex coordination requirements.
