Kindle Education Public Charter School
Jersey City, NJ

Located in Jersey City, NJ, ideal for educators who live locally or currently commute into NYC and are looking for a closer, more sustainable school community.

This is a full-time, on site role designed for educators with experience teaching project-based learning in a public middle school setting.

This role is for the 2026-27 school year and will begin in August 2026.

Company Description

Kindle Education is an intentionally diverse 6th–12th grade public charter school that aims to cultivate an equitable community of purposeful individuals who are prepared to navigate our current world and build our future. We believe that a new model of school is required to meet the demands of the 21st century and we are building it.

We opened our doors to 66 6th-grade students in the fall of 2023 in Jersey City, NJ. Two years later, Kindle now serves 6th–8th grade students, with plans to expand through 12th grade.

We are seeking a Project-Based Learning Makerspace Teacher (Forge) to join our middle school team beginning in August 2026.

Job Description

Below is a brief overview, intended to be neither comprehensive nor binding. A flame is organic, never fixed, and we see the development of our school and team in the same way.

As a Project-Based Learning Makerspace Teacher (Forge) at Kindle Education, you will play many roles. We believe education is best done as a team sport, we can accomplish exponentially more through collaboration.

  • As a Forge Teacher, you will lead a dynamic, hands-on makerspace where students bring ideas to life through design thinking and prototyping. Using the NuVuX curriculum, you will guide students through open-ended design challenges that integrate engineering, art, and storytelling. Students will learn to research, ideate, sketch, build, test, and iterate, developing both their technical skills and their creative confidence.
  • As a Student Coach, you will facilitate a daily advisory (Bonfire) where you partner with parents to guide a group of students as they explore their purpose, individuality/identity, and participate in community based change-making projects.
  • As a Learner and Team Member, you will set your own goals with the support of a coach and your peers, modeling the same curiosity and ownership we expect from students. By proactively supporting colleagues and stepping in where needed, you’ll help foster a culture where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

Qualifications

We are looking for creative and adaptive self-starters who are ready to take on the challenge of cultivating an environment that prepares every child to navigate our current world and build our future. Please review our website before applying (KindleEducation.org).

  • Experience with or willingness to develop skills in design thinking, digital fabrication, prototyping, and project-based learning.
  • Comfort using or learning design curricula, and integrating emerging technologies and creative tools.
  • A genuine excitement for student coaching and supporting the metacognitive and holistic growth of students.
  • Readiness to utilize technology, data, and systems of feedback to ensure transparency, consistency, and continuous improvement.
  • Preference for fast-paced and diverse startup cultures where everyone wears multiple hats.
  • Team player who is willing to give more than they take.
  • Strong belief in the importance of diversity and intentionally integrated communities.
  • Someone who seeks first to understand, then to be understood.
