Must Have Technical/Functional Skills:
Program Management:
Mortgage Domain Expertise:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the US Residential Mortgage lifecycle: Origination, Processing, Underwriting, and Closing.
- Deep understanding of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac guidelines, FHA/VA requirements, and private investor overlays.
- Familiarity with mortgage document types (Income, Asset, Tax, Collateral) and their validation logic.
Technology & AI Literacy:
- Strong conceptual understanding of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Intelligent Document Processing (IDP).
- Experience with Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) and tools like Jira/Confluence.
- Ability to discuss technical data contracts and system architecture with engineers while translating impact to business users.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Gen-AI Program Oversight & Delivery:
- Lead the implementation roadmap for Gen-AI based Mortgage IDP (extracting data from 1003s, paystubs, W2s, etc.) and Gen-AI assisted underwriting.
- Define program scope, milestones, and success metrics (KPIs) focused on reducing Turnaround Time (TAT) and improving "Right First Time" ratios.
- Manage cross-functional workstreams, ensuring technical development aligns with the specific nuances of mortgage credit policy and secondary market requirements.
Underwriting & IDP Strategy:
- Supervise the integration of Gen-AI modules into existing Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and Loan Management Systems (LMS).
- Manage dependencies between data ingestion, AI model processing, and downstream automated decision engines.
- Oversee API-led integrations with third-party providers (Bureaus, VOE/VOI, Appraisal vendors).
Compliance, Ethics & Governance:
- Define end-to-end flows: application intake → KYC/AML → bureau pulls → documentation → underwriting → approval → disbursement.
- Specify API/integration requirements with bureaus, KYC providers, appraisal systems, e-sign, and payment gateways.
Compliance & Controls:
- Ensure all Gen-AI solutions adhere to Fair Lending acts (ECOA, HMDA) and internal risk & control frameworks.
- Partner with Legal and Compliance to manage AI-specific risks, including model bias, data privacy (PII), and "Explainable AI requirements for adverse action notices.
Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for executive leadership, providing transparent reporting on budget, risks, and ROI.
- Facilitate high-level workshops to align Underwriting, Risk, Operations, and Tech teams on the AI product vision.
Quality & Performance Validation:
- Oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT) specifically for AI model accuracy and "confidence score" thresholds.
- Validate that Gen-AI outputs consistently meet the rigorous accuracy standards required for mortgage auditing and securitization.
