Under general supervision, implements and manages the Arizona Project Bright Futures Intragovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the Arizona Department of Education (ADE). The program manager develops structures and systems to coordinate all components of the IGA. Writes, manages and supervises all grant related projects. TYPICAL DUTIES: (Illustrative Only) Supports Cochise County Local Education Agencies (LEA) by establishing formal written policy and procedural guidelines for identifying, assessing, referring, and treating youth at risk of suicide. Co-develop a streamlined response process for the Cochise County Education Service Agency (CCESA) and community to address youth at risk of suicide and for post-incident responses. Facilitates suicide awareness and prevention messaging and events for LEA youth, families, and communities. Recruits and engages educators, childcare professionals, care providers, and community members in Trainer of Trainers (ToT) opportunities focused on suicide awareness, prevention, and intervention. Attend regular meetings with the Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC) to obtain technical assistance and resources. Meets with the project evaluator and team to discuss data collection progress and address areas of need. Collaborates with the State Educational Agency (SEA) and Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) to provide training and professional development. Engages in the community with individuals with lived experience related to suicide. Ensures prior written parental/guardian consent is obtained for mental health assessment, programming, and treatment. Completes all required grant reporting and progress reports. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community leaders, stakeholders and beneficiaries. A bachelor’s degree in Mental Health, Education, Public Health, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education. Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Level 1 fingerprint clearance card. Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to be covered by county insurance.

An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to individuals who read, write and speak Spanish. Considerable knowledge of:
  • developing and implementing crisis response systems
  • principles and practices of office administration management.

Good knowledge of:
  • program and project management;
  • youth mental health care and awareness
  • proposal and training development;
  • government grant compliance principles;
  • team leadership and collaboration;
  • challenges and needs of diverse communities;
  • Microsoft Office Suite software.

Skill in:
  • project management, including overseeing the development of suicide prevention resources to a variety of stakeholders;
  • managing time and maximizing efficiency to meet multiple deadlines;
  • maintaining records in accordance with State/Federal and project guidelines;
  • handling confidential information;
  • working independently;
  • research and analysis.

Ability to:
  • represent the department, division, or the program;

  • understand and interpret policy, procedures and regulations related to the program;
  • work cooperatively with local organizations;
  • lead projects with multiple partners and meet outcomes under strict timelines;
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds;
  • use a personal computer, utilizing word processing, data management, internet and e-mail applications;
  • follow written and verbal instruction;
  • read, write and speak English;
  • communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
  • attend meetings, workshops, seminars, and conferences.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed under general supervision. Incumbent generally performs work in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.

Sedentary to Medium work: Requirements are dependent on the tasks of the day and range from Sedentary, exerting up to 10 pounds of force only occasionally with sitting for extended periods of time, to Medium, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, involves sitting and standing regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, feel or manipulate with hands.
