FSU College of Medicine, Residency Program Administration

Responsibilities

The Program Director oversees the Internal Medicine Residency Program (“IM Program” or “Program”) under the guidance of the Designated Institutional Official (DIO). The Program Director handles the general management, curriculum development, hiring, and teaching and mentoring of the Program. The Program Director sets the strategic vision of the Program and ensures its standards, quality, and reputation. The Program Director is expected to support the collaboration of the IM Program with physician practices and hospital clinical services in a way that improves value and quality, and that fosters a positive environment for professional practice and medical education. The Program Director will also work in collaboration with the program leadership to ensure outstanding educational offerings within Ascension Sacred Heart Bay Hospital.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
• Valid FL medical license, or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain FL licensure.
• Must be board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
• Must have a minimum of three years of faculty and administrative experience in an ACGME accredited internal medicine residency program.

• Outstanding interpersonal, leadership, mentoring and teaching skills.

• Sacred Heart Health System includes hospital campuses in Pensacola, Miramar Beach, Panama City, and Port St. Joe, Florida, as well as The Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart, Northwest Florida’s only children’s hospital and Sacred Heart Medical Group, the largest network of primary care and specialty physicians in Northwest Florida.
• The 47-million-dollar renovation of Bay Medical after Hurricane Michael is in process and aims to create a facility with 200 private rooms. The improvements include major upgrades to information technology and creation of new space for physician offices and other services, including the laboratory, imaging and pharmacy.
• Bay offers an accredited Stroke Center, a Level II Trauma Center, which provides 24-hour emergency care for life-threatening injuries and illnesses, and emergency services located at the main hospital as well as a freestanding emergency center on Panama City Beach.

This faculty position is jointly affiliated with Florida State University (FSU) and Ascension Sacred Heart. Appointment is contingent upon the successful completion of all onboarding and employment requirements of both institutions.
