This program promotes parent accountability and self-sufficiency while reducing the public responsibility for providing financial and medical support to children. DCSS also administers several outreach programs to include but not limited to Fatherhood, Prison Re-Entry and Parental Accountability Court. All of these outreach initiatives are devoted to increasing non-custodial parental involvement in the child's life.

The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS),The Division of Child Support Services (DCSS)is seeking candidates for the position of Program Consultant1. This position is located at the DCSS office located in Atlanta, Fulton County, GA.

Pay Grade: K

Under supervision, assists in the planning, coordination, organization and assessment of the development and implementation of a functional program including program evaluation, and program management. Learns to oversee, develops, and implements policy, procedures and processes. Performs complex and comprehensive research.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Performance Management Section to ensure that the Parental Accountability Court Program’s core work and activities follow procedures and ensures that the coordinators’ individual and team goals are met and exceeded in support of department and agency goals and objectives.
  • Interacts with other agencies, the judiciary, local government and the local media to promote the Parental Accountability Court Program.
  • Works In collaboration with legal system to ensure safety and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Collects and analyzes data to identify problems, draw a hypothesis and solve problems. Serves as the data steward for the PAC program - This includes providing monthly data reports as needed, working with DCSS systems for resolutions, data cleaning and reporting on performance indicators, and other duties as assigned.
  • Supervisesand plans work of assigned staff &court functions, which includes all HR related tasks (approval of leave, time, and travel).
  • Applies interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Applies problem solving, analytical, computer, research, and documentation skills.
  • Participates in organizing and structuring evaluation activities.
  • Serves as subject matter expert.

Core Competencies:

  • Evidence of exceptional critical thinking skills, good judgment and decision-making abilities to monitor and manage a caseload to ensure that child support obligations are met.
  • Ability to use customer service skills to include active listening and negotiation ability.
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and/or standard software applications typically used in a corporate office environment.
  • High school diploma/GED AND One (1) year of job-related experience or completion of an apprenticeship/internship that sufficiently supplied experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position or any other combination of education and professional experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the job.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience.

OR

  • Completion of an apprenticeship/internship that sufficiently supplied experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.

OR

  • Any other combination of education and professional experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the job.
