Professor of Nursing

Midlands Technical College is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Nursing Professor to join its dynamic academic team. This full-time faculty member plays a vital role in preparing future healthcare professionals by delivering high-quality instruction that integrates clinical expertise with evidence-based teaching practices. The position supports the college’s mission by fostering student success, promoting critical thinking, and cultivating the knowledge and skills necessary for excellence in the nursing profession. Through a commitment to instructional quality, student engagement, and continuous improvement, the Nursing Professor contributes to a collaborative learning environment that reflects the evolving needs of the healthcare industry and the community.

TEACHING/QUALITY OF INSTRUCTION

1. Promotes student learning by communicating course content through a variety of teaching strategies, facilitating student engagement across all learning environments (on-campus, online, or virtual), teaching metacognitive awareness and the skills needed for life-long learning, using the learning management system and other technologies to enhance instruction
2. Aligns activities and assessments with course objectives and student learning outcomes
3. 3.Provides timely feedback that promotes continuous improvement, uses student evaluations for ongoing self-assessment and instructional improvement
4. Adheres to accepted standards of professional behavior, civility, and service excellence.

INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

1. Designs courses/curricula that align with student learning outcomes
2. Evaluates effectiveness of course materials and teaching strategies for continuous improvement and currency
3. Adheres to department guidelines and college policies outlined in course syllabi
4. Uses approved template to create an individualized syllabus for each course and posts it on the learning management system at the beginning of the semester
5. Establishes and maintains a semester schedule of activities
6. Records current attendance and grades in the LMS
7. Conforms to all state and federal laws pertaining to students' rights in higher education
8. Meets all department and college deadlines

STUDENT COMMUNICATIN AND ENGAGEMENT

1. Posts and maintains regular office hours for mentoring, academic support, and other forms of outreach to students
2. Communicates regularly with students through the LMS and responds in a timely and professional manner to student emails and other communications
3. Refers students to academic and nonacademic student support services and other resources as appropriate
4. Works with the Academic and Career Advising Center to support student success
5. Participates in department and college events for students.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

1. Attends workshops and other educational programs annually to upgrade teaching abilities and clinical skills pertinent to areas of instruction
2. Develops professional development plan in conjunction with Department Chair
3. Maintains good working relationships with the department, college and the clinical agencies

COLLEGE AND/OR COMMUNITY SERVICE

1. Serves on faculty committees and attends departmental and divisional meetings scheduled.
2. Assists in orientation of new faculty
3. Participate in special college projects.
