Medical / Oncology Unit (3 South)
Status: Full Time
Shifts: Rotating day & evening shifts with a commitment of every other weekend/holiday
Join a fast paced 23 bed Medical Surgical Oncology unit that delivers diverse, high impact patient care. RNs manage a broad mix of med surg and oncology diagnoses while building strong clinical judgment and adaptability. Chemotherapy certified RNs administer chemotherapy and biologic therapies, with opportunities to grow specialty oncology skills. Supported by LPNs, PCTs, and HUCs, this collaborative team environment is ideal for nurses ready to grow, specialize, and advance their careers.

Responsibilities:

    • Supports onboarding and growth of new staff and students; may serve as preceptor

    Clinical Practice and Patient Experience

    • Uses the nursing process and Relationship Based Care to deliver holistic, patient centered care
    • Develops daily goals and plans of care with patients as active partners
    • Demonstrates strong critical thinking across clinical, psychosocial, safety, and spiritual needs
    • Communicates effectively with the care team and advocates for patient needs
    • Maintains thorough documentation to support continuity of care
    • Creates compassionate, healing relationships that enhance patient safety, quality, and satisfaction

    Professional Engagement and Quality Improvement

    • Actively participates in shared governance, unit goals, and practice improvement
    • Adapts quickly to change and supports team transitions
    • Engages fully as a collaborative care team member
    • Contributes to quality improvement initiatives and patient satisfaction efforts

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrates strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills
  • Effectively manages multiple priorities in a complex, fast‑paced environment

Physical Requirements

  • Requires mobility, visual acuity, and manual dexterity
  • Physical stamina for standing, walking, lifting, and patient positioning

Licensure and Certifications

  • Current RN license or Temporary Practice Permit in applicable state or compact state
  • BLS/CPR required per AHA standards within 30 days of hire
  • Graduate Nurses must pass licensure exam within 6 months of hire or 1 year of graduation, whichever comes first
