Ambulance and Chair is a long-standing EMS provider with deep roots in the communities that we serve. Position Summary
The Prehospital Registered Nurse provides advanced life support care in the prehospital setting in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations, regional protocols, and Ambulance and Chair policies. RNs serve as clinical leaders on scene, delivering high-acuity patient care, coordinating resources, and supporting team members to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered outcomes.

Purpose:
The Professional Critical Care Ground (CCG) Nurse will work as part of the critical care ground team. The Professional CCG Nurse will follow PA DOH BLS, ALS and CCG guidelines; and is responsible for the care of critically ill and injured patients. Responsibilities include patient care incorporating assessment, stabilization and intervention techniques consistent with standards and protocols approved by the Medical Director. The Professional CCG Nurse is expected to execute independent judgment, to deliver appropriate care that is consistent with the clinical protocols, when contact with a medical command physician is not possible. The Professional CCG Nurse fulfills education and experiential requirements as established by the Medical Director, and performs other duties as assigned. Supports and upholds the mission, goals, and objectives, of the UPMC system at all times.
Responsibilities:
Must be eligible to receive medical command authorization by the Medical Director, have reliable transportation, and be willing to travel to any base site as assigned. Must be able to successfully complete the prescribed orientation program, including classroom, clinical rotations, educational competencies, and on the job training. Must work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Must maintain a Solid/Strong/Good or higher on annual performance evaluation to maintain status. Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families. Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. Exemplary clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care. Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process. Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients.

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
