Job Title: Production Worker – Automated Magnet Wire Manufacturing (700 Building)

Job Description

This role focuses on end-to-end manufacturing of magnet wire products in a highly automated, temperature-controlled production facility. You will prepare raw materials, monitor fully automated lines, verify product quality, and handle finished goods using material handling equipment. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work safely and independently, and a willingness to learn advanced automated manufacturing processes that support demanding automotive customers.

Responsibilities

• Handle raw materials to prepare them for production, including moving and staging materials for the line.
• Load the production line by feeding raw wire into the equipment as needed to maintain continuous operation.
• Review and interpret specification sheets to set up machines correctly and ensure products meet exact requirements.
• Operate automated production equipment and monitor the HMI touchscreen to track line performance and product quality.
• Troubleshoot basic machine issues while the line is running and escalate more complex problems when necessary.
• Pull in-process enamel samples at defined intervals and accurately document all required in-process data by hand.
• Inspect products visually and with basic measuring tools to confirm compliance with quality standards.
• Use an overhead crane to safely move finished spools of wire within the facility.
• Operate a forklift approximately 15% of the time to move raw materials and finished products to and from storage areas and the warehouse.
• Follow detailed quality specifications that support automotive customers and maintain meticulous documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and near clean-room-level work area, following all cleanliness and contamination-control procedures.
• Work safely at all times, including when using stairs to upper levels, overhead cranes, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds repetitively while working 12-hour shifts on a 2/2/3 schedule.
• Support general production activities such as packaging, labeling, and preparing finished spools for outbound shipment.
• Collaborate with team members and leadership while also working independently without constant supervision.
• Assist with basic line changeovers, setup adjustments, and routine housekeeping tasks to keep the facility in excellent condition.

Essential SkilOur Client

• Previous experience in manufacturing, warehouse, construction, or similar general labor roles that involve hands-on work and production processes.
• Ability to read, write, and understand written work orders and documentation in English.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds repetitively during 12-hour shifts.
• Comfort working at heights, including using grated stairs to access a second-floor level.
• Willingness to work 12-hour shifts on a 2/2/3 schedule for either day or night shift.
• Strong attention to detail to follow detailed quality specifications and cleanliness standards for automotive products.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around automated machinery, hand tools, and production equipment.
• Ability to work safely and reliably without consistent direct supervision.
• Strong tenure and reliability in previous positions, demonstrating commitment and consistent attendance.
• Willingness to learn and operate a forklift, with training provided by the employer.
• Ability to multitask, manage several activities at once, and maintain productivity in a continuous production environment.
• Strong soft skills, including communication, teamwork, and professionalism in front of on-site customers.

Additional SkilOur Client & Qualifications

• Prior experience as a machine operator, production operator, or assembly line worker.
• Experience with quality inspection, including visual checks and basic measurements.
• Experience in general production, packaging, loading, and packing activities.
• Experience using hand tools and basic troubleshooting in a mechanical or manufacturing setting.
• Forklift certification or prior forklift experience, although not required, is an advantage.
• Experience working in highly regulated or automotive-related manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area similar to a clean-room-style process.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, which can support advancement into lead-level roles.
• Comfort working with HMIs, touchscreens, or other machine interfaces to monitor and adjust production processes.

Work Environment

The role is based in the 700 building, a new, highly automated production area that closely resembles a clean-room environment in terms of process and cleanliness. The facility is temperature controlled, very clean, and less industrial in feel, with a strong focus on attention to detail and self-motivation. The production lines are fully automated and continuous, performing all critical steps such as shaping wire to the correct diameter, coating it with enamel, curing it in vertical ovens, and winding it onto spools. Operators primarily monitor the process, handle materials, and ensure quality rather than performing heavy manual labor, making the work relatively easy on the body. The environment supports demanding automotive customers, including on-site customer presence, so professionalism and adherence to strict quality standards are essential. Work is performed on 12-hour shifts using a 2/2/3 schedule, with a first shift from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and a third shift from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. The role involves standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as using grated stairs to access upper levels. Employees use overhead cranes and forklifts to move raw materials and finished spools of wire, and they must follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate work attire suitable for a clean, industrial production environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin, IN.

The pay range for this position is $21.11 - $22.36/hr.
