Night shift: 6:00 pm - 6:30 am


.75 cent shift differential


JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for ensuring the Factory Boilers, Chiller Systems, Air Compressors, Wastewater and other utility systems run efficiently by decreasing down time due to mechanical challenges. The successful Utilities Operator will assist with the installation, maintenance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Plant machinery used for the production.

ESSors the operation of the plant Dissolved Air Floatation Unit and makes appropriate contact to obtain assistance when problems are noted.

o Assist with and provide support for the maintenance of the plant including installation, repairing, maintaining, setup, troubleshooting, and / or operating Plant Utility Systems, including Boilers, Air Compressors, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Wastewater Operations, Plant Manufacturing equipment or other Utility System machinery.

o Monitor and maintain the correct boiler chemistry. In addition, ensures proper operation of chillers, cooling towers, wastewater treatment facility, and chemical addition systems.

o Conduct facility preventative maintenance and repairs for all equipment as directed.

o Replaces packing on pumps and valves, motor and pump bearings, seals and sleeves. Adjusts shaft alignments, worn parts, bearings, seals, lubricates motors and gearboxes.

o Conducts visual inspection involving small defects and, or small parts. Maintains plant and pump station building and grounds

o Other duties include proper use and care for tools, maintaining daily maintenance logs, ordering and stocking parts.

o Conducts other duties as assigned.

o Troubleshoot control issues.

o Assist with maintenance work as needed

o Flexibility if required to work overtime as required by the maintenance

o Assist Operations/maintenance department as needed

o Any other assigned tasks/duties

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

Must have a high school diploma and four years of industrial maintenance experience ((mechanical) electrical-electronic a plus). In addition, must possess a valid NJ Blue Seal Operators License for operation of the boilers and NJ Blue Seal Operators License for operation of refrigeration installed in the factory in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance and instructions. Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple instructions. Must have the ability to communicate technical and non-technical information clearly.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Possess the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs


REASONING ABILITY:

Must have the ability to apply commonsense and understanding when carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITITES:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to operate motorized vehicles or equipment
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
  • Knowledge of safety programs and procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of Control Systems
  • Industrial Mechanical as well as Electrical – Electronic Troubleshooting
  • Available and willing to be contacted by phone in the event of an emergency and be able to work flexible schedules including weekends, late shifts and overtime

The position requires manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to run processing equipment. Normal range of hearing and vision is required.

There is occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. In addition, may require movement of 55 gallon drums of chemicals using appropriate handling equipment.

The position is exposed to machines, chemicals and solvents. Must be able to operate simple and, or complex heavy-duty machinery. Requires working in areas that are not ventilated or air-conditioned.
