Production Coordinator, Costing & Logistics (Short Term)

Position Overview

The Production Coordinator, Costing & Logistics, is a hands-on individual that can thrive and multitask in a high pace, ever changing environment. As a member of our high performing and fun team, this role is an integral part of the development and production departments.  Reporting to the Director of Production, your main role will be to support the end-to-end production process from development through bulk delivery, with a strong focus on costing, freight coordination, and vendor communication. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate cost data, managing shipment logistics, tracking production timelines, and ensuring cross-functional alignment to deliver product on time and within margin targets. Please note this is a short term position.


Primary Job Responsibilities

·      Build and maintain detailed garment cost sheets, ensuring all updates to materials, freight, duties, and packaging are accurately reflected

·      Request and analyze vendor quotes for both development and bulk production, supporting counter-sourcing efforts to achieve the best cost, quality, and compliance

·      Track target versus actual costs, flagging risks to margin and assisting in identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements

·      Calculate and maintain landed cost breakdowns inclusive of FOB price, freight, duties, tariffs, insurance, and handling fees, updating models as rates or routing changes occur

·      Arrange and coordinate domestic and international freight shipments via air, ocean, and ground carriers, including small parcel shipments through UPS, FedEx, DHL, and similar carriers

·      Obtain and compare freight quotes across carriers and forwarders, supporting cost-effective shipping decisions

·      Track inbound and outbound shipments, proactively communicating delays or discrepancies to relevant teams and providing tracking details as needed

·      Track and reconcile freight invoices against approved quotes, flagging discrepancies for review

·      Monitor carrier rate changes, communicate cost impacts to the team

·      Assist in identifying shipment consolidation opportunities to help reduce overall freight spend

·      Support day-to-day coordination with vendors and factories on time and action calendars, approvals, and shipping deadlines to ensure production goals are met

·      Assist in maintaining and updating the Work in Progress (WIP) report with current delivery dates and status updates on a daily basis

·      Assist in updating Apparel Magic based on delivery information provided by contractors


Education & Requirements

·      Experience with PLM or ERP systems; familiarity with Apparel Magic ERP a plus

·      Proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets, including pivot tables, formulas, and cost tracking

·      3+ years experience in a production planning environment in the apparel industry

·      Working knowledge of fabrics, trims, and garment construction methods, with an understanding of basic costing principles.

·      Associate or Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience

·      Experience as a team player who thrives in fast paced environments

·      Flexibility, adaptability and excellent organization skills

·      Ability to roll up your sleeves to take on new projects outside of day-to-day scope, pending business needs 

·      Strong written and verbal communication skills

·      Excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to interact with all personality types


Salary & Benefits

·      Base Salary Range: $28-32 per hour. Actual salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, a candidate’s related work experience.
