Job Title: 1st Shift Production Associate

Job Description

The Production Associate supports the manufacturing of drainage pipes by unloading materials, trimming excess plastic, cutting products to specification, and coiling finished pipes into rolls. This role involves hands-on work with production equipment and tools in a fast-paced environment and requires consistent physical activity, including lifting and maneuvering materials throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Unload drainage pipes of various sizes from production lines or staging areas.
  • Trim excess plastic from finished products to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Cut drainage pipes to precise specifications using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Coil finished pipes into rolls and prepare them for packaging, storage, or shipment.
  • Routinely lift materials weighing up to 30–40 pounds and participate in team lifts for heavier items.
  • Maneuver heavier parts and finished pipes, including pushing, pulling, and lifting items up to approximately 100 pounds off scales and work surfaces.
  • Operate or assist with production line and machine operations as directed.
  • Use hand and power tools, including sawzall equipment, to complete cutting and trimming tasks, with training provided as needed.
  • Perform general labor tasks to support overall production flow and housekeeping in the work area.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe and efficient production environment.
  • Support packaging activities to ensure finished products are properly prepared and organized.
  • Collaborate with team members across shifts to maintain consistent production output and quality.

Essential Skills

  • General labor experience in a production, manufacturing, or similar hands-on environment.
  • Experience working on a production line or in general production roles.
  • Machine operation experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 40 pounds throughout the shift.
  • Ability to maneuver, push, pull, and lift heavier parts and finished pipes up to approximately 100 pounds with appropriate technique or team assistance.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools in a work setting.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate tools such as a sawzall with proper training.
  • Comfort working in a physically demanding, fast-paced production environment.
  • Reliability in adhering to scheduled shift hours and overtime as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous machine operation experience is preferred and considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in plastics manufacturing or a similar industrial environment is beneficial.
  • Background in packaging or material handling is helpful.
  • Interest in developing skills to grow into line operator roles and other advanced positions.
  • Willingness to learn new production processes, tools, and equipment through on-the-job training.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, onsite production role in a manufacturing facility that operates three shifts: 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. The facility is non-climate controlled, so it can be cold during cooler seasons and hot during warmer seasons. The production area is fairly organized and includes a brand-new production line, though the space can feel cramped when large amounts of scrap plastic are present. The role involves regular use of production machinery, hand tools, and power tools such as a sawzall, and requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, and material handling throughout the shift. Appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial manufacturing environment is expected, including adherence to all safety and personal protective equipment requirements.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of London, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.25 - $21.50/hr.
