What You Will Do:
The Associate Director, Maintenance is the strategic and operational leader responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and long‑term health of all manufacturing assets supporting Pratt & Whitney’s Columbus blade business. This role oversees maintenance for high‑energy forge presses, precision grinding and milling centers, plating operations, and supporting utilities. The leader will set the vision for equipment reliability, elevate maintenance execution, and build a high‑performing team capable of supporting a world‑class aerospace manufacturing environment.
This position is ideal for a leader who thrives in complex operations, understands the demands of high‑precision manufacturing, and can translate strategy into measurable improvements in uptime, PM OTD, cost performance, and workforce capability.
Strategic Leadership & Reliability Roadmap
Own the maintenance strategy for the blade business, ensuring alignment with production, quality, EH&S, and long‑range operations plans.
Develop a multi‑year reliability roadmap covering asset lifecycle management, modernization, predictive technologies, and capital planning.
Drive the shift from reactive to predictive maintenance through data analytics, condition monitoring, and disciplined root‑cause analysis.
Equipment Performance & Downtime Reduction
Lead initiatives to reduce unplanned downtime across forging, machining, and plating operations, with a focus on chronic issue elimination.
Improve OEE by strengthening preventive and predictive maintenance programs and ensuring PM OTD performance meets or exceeds targets.
Partner with Engineering and Operations to ensure equipment readiness for rate increases, new product introduction, and process changes.
Operational Excellence & Maintenance Execution
Oversee daily maintenance operations ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient execution of work across all shifts.
Standardize maintenance processes, work instructions, and CMMS usage to improve planning, scheduling, and work order quality.
Strengthen spare‑parts strategy, vendor management, and tooling standardization to support reliability and cost control.
Financial & Resource Stewardship
Own the maintenance operating budget, including labor, materials, contracts, and capital recommendations.
Identify and execute cost‑reduction opportunities without compromising equipment reliability or safety.
Ensure the organization is staffed, trained, and structured to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
Leadership, Culture, & Talent Development
Lead and develop a team of supervisors, planners, and skilled technicians, building a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
Implement structured training programs, certification pathways, and cross‑skilling to strengthen workforce capability.
Promote a culture where safety, quality, and reliability are non‑negotiable.
Cross‑Functional Partnership
Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, EH&S, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure equipment performance supports production goals.
Provide maintenance input for capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process improvements.
Represent maintenance performance and strategy in site leadership forums.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s degree and 12 or more years of experience in a machine tool maintenance environment OR a Master's degree and 10 or more years of experience in a machine tool maintenance environment
Demonstrated success leading multi‑disciplinary teams and delivering high‑quality products
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Qualifications We Prefer:
Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Experience in aerospace, defense, or other high‑precision manufacturing environments.
Background in automation, digital manufacturing, advanced machining, or next‑generation manufacturing technologies.

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
