The Product Manager will own the lifecycle of physical products—from concept through launch and ongoing optimization—serving as the bridge between customers, engineering/manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial teams. This role blends product strategy, market analysis, cross‑functional leadership, and execution to ensure products meet customer needs, margin targets, and business objectives. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience managing tangible goods and understands the realities of manufacturing, sourcing, inventory, and go‑to‑market execution.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Own the product roadmap for assigned product lines, aligning business goals, customer needs, and operational realities
- Define product vision, positioning, and value propositions for physical goods
- Identify opportunities for new products, line extensions, and portfolio rationalization
Product Development & Lifecycle Management
- Lead cross‑functional product development efforts with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and quality teams
- Translate customer and market insights into clear product requirements and specifications
- Manage stage‑gate processes, timelines, and tradeoffs related to cost, quality, and speed‑to‑market
- Oversee products through full lifecycle including launch, optimization, and end‑of‑life decisions
Market, Customer & Competitive Insights
- Gather voice‑of‑customer feedback through sales, customers, and market research
- Analyze competitive offerings, pricing, features, and market trends
- Partner with sales and marketing to ensure products are positioned effectively in target markets
Go‑to‑Market & Commercial Enablement
- Lead product launches in collaboration with marketing, sales, and operations
- Develop sales enablement tools including product messaging, pricing rationale, and competitive differentiation
- Support field sales and key customer conversations as a product subject‑matter expert
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Act as the central point of coordination between product, operations, supply chain, marketing, and sales
- Balance customer needs with manufacturing feasibility, inventory considerations, and margin targets
- Use data to support decision‑making and prioritization
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of product management experience with physical / tangible goods
- Experience in manufacturing, CPG, industrial products, consumer goods, or durable products
- Strong understanding of product development, sourcing, and manufacturing constraints
- Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams without direct authority
- Strong analytical, communication, and decision‑making skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience managing multi‑SKU product portfolios
- Exposure to cost modeling, pricing strategy, and margin optimization
- Experience working with contract manufacturers or global supply chains
- Background in engineering, operations, or supply chain a plus
