Job Title: Process Technician

Job Description

The Process Technician sets up, optimizes, and monitors injection molding processes to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality production. This role focuses on establishing and maintaining process parameters, troubleshooting molding issues, supporting tooling changes, and partnering with production and quality teams to meet customer and internal specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, start, adjust, and shut down injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Establish, document, and maintain process parameters including temperatures, pressures, speeds, and cycle times to achieve quality and efficiency targets.
  • Troubleshoot molding defects such as short shots, flash, sinks, warp, burn marks, and dimensional issues, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Perform mold changes and tooling hookups, ensuring proper installation and verification of cooling, hydraulics, and material flow.
  • Monitor production runs to verify part quality, process stability, and conformance to specifications and process sheets.
  • Document process parameters, adjustments, and corrective actions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Support first‑article approvals and process validation activities to qualify new tools, materials, or process changes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, and process robustness.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance of molds, injection molding machines, and peripheral equipment to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Train and support machine operators on proper startup, shutdown, and process monitoring procedures.
  • Follow and enforce all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout and machine guarding requirements.

Essential Skills

  • 2–5+ years of experience in plastic injection molding as a process technician or setup technician.
  • Strong understanding of injection molding principles and scientific molding concepts.
  • Ability to set up, adjust, and shut down injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Proficiency in identifying and troubleshooting molding defects such as short shots, flash, sinks, warp, burn marks, and dimensional issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, and quality specifications.
  • Basic mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and machine guarding.
  • Experience working with molds, injection molding machines, and related molding equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience documenting process parameters, changes, and corrective actions in production environments.
  • Supporting first‑article approvals and process validation activities.
  • Exposure to preventive maintenance practices for molds, machines, and peripheral equipment.
  • Experience training and supporting machine operators on process‑related tasks.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methods in a manufacturing setting.

Work Environment

The role is based in a new, clean, and climate‑controlled facility designed for comfort and consistent production conditions. You will work around injection molding machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment, following established safety procedures and using appropriate machine guarding and lockout/tagout practices.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hebron, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
