Job Title: EHS & Maintenance/Reliability Process Engineer
Job Description

The EHS & Maintenance/Reliability Process Engineer supports and improves plant safety performance, regulatory compliance, equipment reliability, and maintenance effectiveness. This entry-level role plays a critical part in creating a safe working environment, reducing equipment downtime, optimizing maintenance processes, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations. The engineer collaborates closely with EHS personnel, maintenance and reliability teams, supervisors, and engineering staff to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable plant performance, while building a strong foundation for long-term career growth.

Responsibilities

  • Support and enhance plant safety performance by applying engineering principles to identify, assess, and mitigate risks in manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in maintaining regulatory compliance by supporting EHS programs, procedures, and documentation in alignment with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment by partnering with EHS personnel and plant teams to implement safety initiatives and promote safe work practices.
  • Improve equipment reliability by analyzing performance issues, identifying root causes of downtime, and recommending engineering-based solutions.
  • Support maintenance effectiveness by helping to develop, refine, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and practices.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives focused on reducing equipment downtime, improving throughput, and enhancing overall manufacturing efficiency.
  • Apply process engineering and manufacturing engineering principles to optimize existing manufacturing processes and support the introduction of improvements.
  • Use lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to identify waste, improve process capability, and drive continuous improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and reliability teams, supervisors, and engineering personnel to ensure coordinated and reliable plant operations.
  • Assist in developing and updating technical documentation, procedures, and standards related to EHS, maintenance, and reliability activities.
  • Support cross-functional teams in troubleshooting process and equipment issues to restore safe and stable operations quickly.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement culture by identifying opportunities for enhancement and participating in structured improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of process engineering principles applied within a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and manufacturing engineering concepts.
  • Ability to support process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Exposure to or understanding of Six Sigma concepts and tools.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with EHS, maintenance, reliability, and engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address equipment reliability and process issues.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to cross-functional teams.

  • Interest in developing expertise in EHS practices and regulatory compliance within a manufacturing setting.
  • Motivation to grow in maintenance and reliability engineering responsibilities over time.
  • Willingness to learn and apply structured continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Ability to work effectively in a plant environment with a diverse group of operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple initiatives related to safety, reliability, and process improvement.
Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing plant environment with a team of approximately 30–35 people. The typical schedule runs Monday through Friday starting at 6:30, supporting day-to-day plant operations. The position focuses roughly 30% on EHS-related activities and 70% on reliability and maintenance effectiveness. The engineer works closely with operations, EHS, maintenance, and engineering personnel on the production floor and in technical workspaces, contributing to a culture of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement. The environment emphasizes hands-on engagement with processes and equipment, collaboration across functions, and clear pathways for professional growth.

This is a Permanent position based out of Stockton, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
