Overview

GDS Design Studio, part of the MENA GDS Customer and Growth team, combines design, engineering, and CX technology to deliver modern digital transformation across the region. We apply a human centred, design first approach to create scalable, intuitive, and secure digital products.

As a Manager, you will lead engineering teams, shape solution architecture, and ensure high quality delivery across programs for government and enterprise clients in the Middle East.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Manager – Full Stack Engineering to lead architecture, engineering strategy, delivery governance, and team performance across systems built on React, .NET, and SQL.

You will collaborate closely with design, product, DevOps, platform, and cloud teams—ensuring solutions are well engineered, scalable, secure, and built for modern cloud and on premise environments.

Key Focus Areas

• Technical Leadership: Establish engineering best practices, architecture patterns, code quality standards, and scalable design principles.
• Solution Architecture: Define front end, API, and data architectures aligned to enterprise, cloud, and on prem requirements.
• AI & GenAI Integration (Model Agnostic): Identify opportunities to use AI/LLMs within workflows; design integrations with any enterprise approved LLMs; embed summarisation, classification, search, conversation, or automation capabilities; ensure responsible use and compliance.
• Cloud & On Prem Hosting: Design deployment ready architectures for Azure and on prem environments, ensuring portability, security, and performance.
• Agile Delivery Leadership: Own estimation, sprint planning, governance, risk mitigation, and engineering health across Agile programs.
• Design–Technology Alignment: Ensure design to code fidelity, accessibility, robust component implementation, and consistency with tokens, grids, and interaction patterns.
• Performance & Reliability: Govern testing, observability, performance optimisation, and operational readiness.
• RFPs & Pursuit Support: Provide technical inputs, estimates, solution pitches, and prototypes during pursuits and client discussions.

You will shape the engineering direction of high visibility programs across the Middle East, guiding teams to deliver secure, intuitive, and enterprise grade digital systems. Key Responsibilities

• Front-End Engineering (React)
• Lead development of responsive, accessible UIs using React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS/SCSS.
• Define and maintain reusable component systems and design token implementation.
• Drive performance improvements through optimisation, code splitting, caching, and runtime tuning.
• Collaborate closely with design teams using Figma for specifications and QA.

Back-End Engineering (.NET)

• Architect ASP.NET Core APIs with clean, secure domain models and structured error patterns.
• Implement security patterns including OAuth2/OIDC/JWT.
• Oversee SQL schema design, indexing, query optimisation, and Entity Framework Core best practices.
• Enable highly testable, maintainable, and scalable API and service architectures.

AI & GenAI (Vendor Neutral)

• Integrate enterprise approved LLMs into product features (Azure, on prem, or other platforms).
• Design prompt flows, inference patterns, and AI assisted user journeys responsibly.
• Enable capabilities such as summarisation, conversational UX, document Q&A, and contextual intelligence.
• Ensure compliance, data safety, and appropriate model selection based on client constraints.

Cloud (Azure) & On Prem Infrastructure

• Support deployment architectures across Azure App Services, Azure SQL, identity providers, storage, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams on containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (AKS/EKS).
• Ensure solutions support both cloud and on prem deployments, including hybrid integrations.
• Oversee logging, tracing, alerting, and metrics aligned to enterprise observability standards.

Agile & Delivery Governance

Lead sprint ceremonies, backlog shaping, and cross functional planning.

Drive code reviews, quality gates, technical debt management, and best practice engineering maturity.

Mitigate delivery risks and ensure predictable, high quality outcomes.

Mentor engineers and build a high performance culture.

Requirements

Education

Engineering, Computer Science, BCA/MCA, or equivalent.

Experience

9–12+ years of full stack engineering with deep delivery experience in React + .NET.

Eye for high end (game quality) front end CSS/HTML designs.

Proven leadership of teams, architecture decisions, and Agile delivery.

Experience deploying on both cloud and on prem environments.

Technical Skills

Must Have

Front End: React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3/SCSS; WCAG/ARIA.

Backend: ASP.NET Core, C#, REST API standards, auth (OAuth2/OIDC/JWT).

Data: SQL, schema design, indexing, EF Core.

AI/GenAI: Ability to integrate enterprise LLMs (Azure, on prem, or other providers).

Process: Git, Agile/Scrum, testing practices, documentation.

Preferred

CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Azure DevOps).

Docker, Kubernetes (AKS/EKS).

Azure hosting and identity services; on prem deployment familiarity.

Observability, monitoring, logging, tracing.

Tailwind, Material UI, or other UI libraries.

Experience with LLM orchestration frameworks (Semantic Kernel, LangChain like tools).

Soft Skills

Strong communication with design, product, engineering, and business teams.
