About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to support capital projects, equipment installation, and process optimization within a fast‑paced food and beverage manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on hands‑on problem solving, cross‑functional collaboration, and driving measurable improvements in safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead preliminary scoping, feasibility studies, and cost estimating for capital and improvement projects.
- Develop bid packages, negotiate contractor agreements, and manage project execution.
- Deliver projects on time and within budget while meeting all technical and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and operator training.
- Prepare process equipment specifications, PFDs, and operational descriptions.
- Manage procurement of new equipment and retrofits for existing systems.
Process & Equipment Engineering
- Engineer and design process systems to improve product quality, throughput, and cost efficiency.
- Apply expertise in pumps, valves, instrumentation, pneumatics, and sanitary process design.
- Support troubleshooting of complex mechanical systems and production equipment.
- Conduct mass and energy balances, thermodynamic calculations, and heat exchanger evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with hygienic design principles and food safety standards.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive improvements in line efficiency, labor utilization, safety, quality, and yield.
- Identify and implement cost‑saving initiatives across raw materials, utilities, and processes.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies to enhance plant capabilities.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Build strong relationships with plant personnel, vendors, and cross‑functional teams.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project mechanics and operations staff.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related engineering field.
- 5–10 years of experience in an industrial environment; food/beverage manufacturing strongly preferred.
- Experience with sanitary design, aseptic standards, and food safety requirements.
- Hands‑on mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting capability.
- Knowledge of stainless steel fabrication, welding methods, and surface finish requirements.
- Experience with thermodynamics, heat exchangers, steam/condensate systems, and industrial HVAC.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to develop PFDs, P&IDs, and conceptual layouts.
- Strong understanding of environmental and civil engineering considerations.
- Familiarity with evaporation technology, material handling, and pumpable food product systems.
