Full Time - Day Shift

The Spec-Surgery Scheduling is accountable for scheduling various complex Surgical and Medical procedures by obtaining appropriate surgical procedure, specialized equipment, and other specialized resources, implants and current/historical medical information (i.e., ICD10 Coding, Medical History, including allergies and Patient Demographic Profile). Complexity of this position is evidenced by the use of simple and complex medical terminology and enterprise scheduling protocols. Surgical Scheduling Specialist must also think independently and make relatively complex decisions in a fast-paced environment. Provides superior customer service and service recovery, utilizing good judgment that meets or exceeds the expectations of patients, visitors, physicians and Providence Health System staff. Surgical Services Scheduling Specialist is accountable for the efficient coordination of the operating schedule(s) including: preoperative scheduling of surgical and medical procedures and assisting the OR manager, Associate Nurse Managers, Charge nurses, and Anesthesia Coordinator with daily facilitation of the schedule. The Surgical Services Scheduling Specialist serves as the liaison and first contact of communication for the operating room; displays professional interpersonal skills and presence when communicating with physicians, staff and the public; as the front-line customer service representative, upholds and exhibits the core values in all communication.

Required Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Intermediate Medical Terminology and Physical Anatomy coursework or equivalent education/experience.
  • 3 years Medical Office or hospital experience in surgery field.
  • Demonstrated outstanding customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Business or college courses.
