PRN Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Student

IU Health’s Centralized Compounding is seeking a motivated pharmacy or pre‑pharmacy student to join our team. Located within the 65,000‑square‑foot Integrated Service Center (ISC) in Plainfield, Centralized Compounding is part of IU Health’s shared services pharmacy model—the first of its kind in Indiana—supporting hospitals and facilities across the state. This internship position offers a unique opportunity to help expand an innovative pharmacy practice, develop in‑depth expertise in sterile and non‑sterile compounding, and make a meaningful impact on patient care statewide. The intern will gain hands‑on experience in a cutting‑edge environment and build the confidence needed to work within and eventually supervise compounding operations—skills that are highly sought after in pharmacy practice. Position will begin training in May/June with flexible start dates, require full‑time availability over the summer, and transition to a minimum commitment of one weekend every four weeks during the academic year, with additional hours often available.

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.   
  • Requires Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.   
  • Requires Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy or enrolled in or graduated from an ASHP/ACPE accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.   
  • Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.   
  • Requires strong mathematical calculation skills.
  • Requires ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills in assigned areas and work under close supervision or under clearly defined procedures.
  • Requires ability to learn effective written and communication skills.   
  • Requires ability to learn and execute customer services skills.
  • Requires basic proficiency typing and using Microsoft office applications.
