The Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI) in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI) and its Low Vision Clinic and Vision Rehabilitation programs for adults. This is an exciting opportunity to serve individuals with vision loss so they may achieve independence, pursue their goals, and enhance their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist occupational therapy clients by providing rehabilitative services to people with low vision impairments.
· Provide services under the direction of licensed occupational therapists.
· Verify client information by interviewing clients, collecting, assessing, and recording required patient information such as medical history and confirming purpose of treatment.
· Assist clients in improving their quality of life by helping them compensate for limitations such as teaching individuals with low vision, visual impairment, or blindness to complete activities of daily living and other activities to improve their level of independence.
· Implement treatment plans and help patients perform therapeutic activities developed in collaboration with occupational therapists by teaching and strategies.
· Instruct patients and their families in the skills and techniques of a treatment program.
· Monitor patients’ performance to make sure they are performed correctly provides encouragement, bringing treatment that is not having the intended effect to the attention of the therapist.
· Document patients’ progress, attitudes and behaviors.
· Maintain occupational therapy accurate patient records by recording patient’s progress for use by the occupational therapist.
· Generate revenue by recording billing information of services rendered.
· Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures.
· Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt of items. Keep equipment operating by following operating procedures, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
· Serve and protect occupational therapy practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements.
· Enhance occupational therapy practice and CVI’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
· Attend meetings to review treatments and patient progress.
· Participate in continuing education classes and staff training.
Qualifications
· Graduated from an ACOTE accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
· Current License or certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Georgia and national certification.
· Current CPR certification.
· Current malpractice insurance.
· Good working knowledge of occupational therapy practices, procedures, and legal regulations.
· Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and documentation skills
· Compassion for individuals experiencing vision loss
· HIPAA compliance and adherence to clinical practice standards required

· Experience in low-vision, geriatrics, or rehabilitation settings a plus
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to sit/stand for extended periods
