Schedule: August 2026 – May 2027 (One-Year Commitment Required)
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM daily start time (open to part-time or full-time)

Position Overview
A private family in Menlo Park is seeking a highly skilled, full-time Private Educator to provide specialized, individualized academic support for two children in 1st and 4th grade. This unique role blends private at-home tutoring in Language Arts and Reading with supplementary support from a mid-day microschool in Sunnyvale. The ideal candidate must be dedicated to creating an engaging, project-based learning environment tailored to neurodiverse needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruction: Deliver directive teaching in Language Arts and Reading, utilizing an appropriate blend of tangible, sensory-driven, and project-based methods in both inside and outside environments.
- Logistics: Drive the children to their microschool in Sunnyvale mid-day.
- Curriculum: Dedicate afternoon hours to curriculum research, preparation, and material development.
- Assessment & Enrichment: Conduct regular assessments of student progress and actively introduce resources in the community to enhance the children’s well-rounded education.
- Advocacy: Provide one-on-one academic support tailored to the children’s specific learning styles.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Specialized Expertise: Must have extensive experience in educating children with neurodiverse profiles, including ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dysgraphia. Preference for educators with Orton-Gillingham training. Must be proficient with the following:
- phonemic awareness
- decoding and encoding
- spelling rules and orthography
- handwriting and written expression
- multisensory instruction
- executive functioning support
- morphology and syntax
- diagnostic/prescriptive teaching methods
- written expression remediation
- fine motor/writing support
Commitment: Must be willing to commit to the full one-year term from August 2026 to May 2027.
Teaching Style: Proven ability to implement flexible, creative, and hands-on teaching methods.
Logistics: Possess a clean driving record and comfortable managing the transportation of children.
