The responsibilities of the Principal Welding Engineer role are:

  • Lead the development and rollout of robotic welding processes across international manufacturing locations.
  • Own the strategy for welding technology and automation, ensuring alignment with wider business goals.
  • Work closely with external partners, integrators and suppliers to evaluate and implement new solutions.
  • Drive initiatives focused on improving productivity, reducing waste and enhancing product quality.
  • Support production planning by ensuring welding capacity and processes meet operational demands.
  • Promote standardization of welding processes across global sites including the US, China, Brazil and Mexico.
  • Address complex technical challenges using structured problem solving and engineering expertise.


The skills and experience required for the Principal Welding Engineer role are:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in industrial automation, manufacturing or engineering environments.
  • Proven exposure to robotic welding and automated production systems.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification.
  • Experience managing CAPEX projects and delivering process improvements.
  • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across functions and locations.

You will play a central role in driving automation across the business, supporting the transition to more efficient and standardized welding processes.
