Principal Test & Quality Platform Architect

Oracle
Redwood City, CA

About the role:

We’re seeking a Principal Test & Quality Platform Architect to partner with our functional, stress, and performance testing teams to modernize and scale our enterprise testing approach across on-prem and cloud. You will assess existing tools and processes, remove redundancies, and architect secure, compliant, and cost-efficient solutions that improve reliability and velocity.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead an enterprise assessment; define a target-state architecture and roadmap.
  • Rationalize tooling and eliminate redundant testing across teams.
  • Leverage AI/ML to accelerate test design, selection, triage, and environment stability while maintaining strict security, privacy, and compliance guardrails across on-prem and cloud.
  • Build a scalable test platform and integrate security/compliance controls into CI/CD.
  • Standardize performance and stress testing practices aligned to SLOs.
  • Establish KPIs, dashboards, and governance; enable teams through playbooks and consulting.

What you’ll bring:

  • 10–15 years in QE/architecture; success leading large-scale testing transformations.
  • Deep experience in functional, stress, and performance testing.

Key responsibilities:

  • Enterprise discovery and assessment
    • Map current test practices, tools, environments, and data flows across teams and products (on-prem and cloud).
    • Quantify redundancy, flakiness, coverage gaps, runtime hotspots, and security/compliance gaps.
    • Align on requirements with QA, Dev, Program Management, Security, and Compliance.
  • Tooling and process rationalization
    • Create a consolidation plan for overlapping tools and duplicated test suites; recommend standard frameworks and patterns per test layer.
    • Define exit criteria and migration paths; minimize disruption while improving signal quality.
  • Strategy and Roadmap
    • Define an AI/Ml roadmap for quality engineering working with teams; prioritize use cases, data sources, required guardrails and ROI
  • Target-state architecture
    • Design a scalable test platform supporting functional, stress testing: parallelization, ephemeral environments, environment orchestration, and self-service test data services.
  • Quality and security by design
    • Integrate quality gates, SAST/DAST/IAST into CI/CD for both on-prem and cloud deployments.
    • Establish compliant test data strategies (masking, synthetic generation, retention, residency).
  • Governance, metrics, and enablement
    • Stand up dashboards and evidence trails for audit readiness.
    • Create playbooks, golden paths, and training to enable large testing teams; provide hands-on consulting and reviews.
  • Change leadership
    • Build a cross-functional working group; sequence pilots and incremental rollouts.
    • Communicate outcomes and ROI to leadership; guide teams through adoption.

Required qualifications:

  • 10–15 years in quality engineering or software architecture, with 5 years consulting or leading large enterprise testing transformations.
  • Demonstrated success rationalizing tools and eliminating redundant testing across multiple large teams.
  • Deep expertise in functional, stress testing at scale, including methodologies, workload modeling, and environment design.
  • Strong CI/CD experience across on-prem and major clouds.
  • Solid knowledge of security and compliance controls integrated into pipelines (SAST/DAST/IAST, secrets hygiene, SBOM/signing, license compliance).
  • Proficiency with observability (metrics/logs/traces), service virtualization, and test data management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and change enablement across matrixed orgs

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with microservices, event-driven systems, and data/streaming performance testing.
  • Experience and or knowledge of AI tools available for testing enterprise scale software
