Principal Engineer - Water Pipeline

To provide technical support to the Middle East Power & Water business in the field of Mechanical engineering 

The range of activities includes:

• Preparation / Review general arrangement drawings of Pump house, process units etc, various equipments (i.e. pumps, compressors, blowers, cranes, valves etc ) specifications, datasheets, bill of material etc for for Power & Water related projects.
• Technical evaluation of tenders, vendor offers, bids. Preparation and closure of clarifications  and report preparation.
• Review of Engineering Drawings and Documents.
• Co ordination with other inter discipline team like Electrical, Instrumentation and Civil.
• General technical support to Utility Companies, Plant Owners, Project Developer Companies, Banks & Governments pre/post financial close for new build plants as well as existing operational plant

• Assisting the GCRC group team leader to plan and allocate team resources and tasks.
• Technical support to the Pre-Contract and Project Delivery teams on matters concerning the design, construction and operation of Power & Water project and associated equipment.
• Technical evaluation of tender submissions and report preparation
• Preparation of basic and detail technical specifications, datasheets and layout drawings.
• Review of design and sizing calculations and drawings of Contractors/subcontractors/ vendors.
• Attend and contribute in team and project meetings.
• Reporting and monitoring of site progress to Project manager / client.
• Attend factory acceptance tests for any equipment manufactured in India and Abroad.
• Support on the preparation of Due Diligence report and Operation reports
• Review of method statement/ test procedures submitted by contractors for power and water treatment plants site activities.
• Support on the review and preparation of monthly and quarterly construction progress reports.
• Maintain an awareness of technological advances and industry best practice

Key Competencies / Skills

Mandatory Skills

• Design office experience working on pipeline and water projects (12 to15 years).
• Good knowledge in international standards like API, ASME, ANSI, AWWA, BS, DIN, HIS etc.

• Basic knowledge on other inter discipline team like Electrical, Instrumentation and Civil would be desirable.

• Good knowledge and preparation of mechanical design of Pump stations is required. 

• Good knowledge and working experience in preparation of General Arrangement drawings (i.e.) Detailed Engineering Drawings for various process units in 2D, General layouts, Hydraulics and P&ID is required. 

• Must have worked on large water transmission pipelines projects preferable across Middle East.

• Preparation of mechanical equipments technical specifications, datasheets for water plants & water transmission pipeline projects.

• Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision to achieve tight deadlines.

• Validation of specific calculation procedures.

• Willing to travel overseas for project meetings.

• Familiarity with relevant international standards.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Good computer skills

Desired Skills

• Knowledge of pumping system & pump house design is desired

• Knowledge of IWTP contracts is an advantage
